For those birders amongst us check out the brief videos on the popular video hosting site featuring these magnificent birds currently passing through the posh bits of Bradford. The links are just above the poor photo of the crossbill. I shall be nipping down tomorrow after the WC final. They've been around the car park next to Bar T'at for the last few days.

| Interesting website. I saw a pair of Waxwings in the Skipton area about 10 years ago.
Didn't pick you as a twitcher tigertot
Used to be into this sort of thing as a kid, and have rekindled my interest in the last year or so. Have started to go to the local RSPB reserve in Exeter, and as I'm in Liverpool this w/e am off up to Leighton Moss in Silverdale.
A good activity for the RL off-season as you don't get as many noisy families going in the winter

I ******* love Leighton Moss, probably my favourite place in the country. The outlwas live not too far away, so get up there now & again. I could spend a full day in the hide with the curved front as long as it was quiet. Best of luck with the bitterns, they are at the top of my list of must see before I die, along with the waxwings.'"
Saw the bitterns there ages ago - twice in one day - the first time flying over the reed bed, the second time creeping about in the reeds (from the main hide you mention). Since then I assumed I had the knack for spotting them but they've eluded me since. Did see some Bearded Tits though
The wife (an ozzie) will be in tow this time which makes it more fun, although converting her to birdwatching took a lot longer than converting her to RL

Never seen a beardy either , though I have seen the marsh harriers a few times there & there was a great white egret the last time which caused a bit of excitement.

| I expect that the proposed lake in bradford will offer a nocturnal opportunty to view wild life birds in their mating habitat.

I know they boom but would need to see one booming to be sure I knew it was a bittern, if you know what I mean.
And the pesky waxwings had moved on. They will be heading your way I would wager.

| Just to annoy tigertot... Yesterday my Mum saw a flock of 50-60 waxwings near the Skipton bypass exit at Bingley right by the side of the road...
