As for Nobby, I think this rumour has just been just that, a bit of wishful thinking on behalf of wigan fans who want noble out. "We want shut of Noble, Bulls have started badly, maybe they'll take Nobby back,= Nobby going back to Bulls, so says bloke in pub"

Although didn't Wigan Bull mention something the other week about an offer from the Wigan board to ours involving taking Nobby back and we knocked em back? Could have been a small amount of fire from the Wigan end because the board want shut of Noble too, which ended up creating a lot of smoke?

It would have been a backwards step going for Noble anyway IMO dispite what hes done for us in the past, its just that, the past. So I'm glad its a rumour Hood has come out and ended.

Interesting that Hood, who very rarely reacts to media and general rumours, has seen it as important to unequivicably scotch this one.
Says more about his support of Macca than the usual Chaiman's "vote of confidence" that so often precludes a subsequent sacking.

I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying.

It doesn't say that for me. All Hood is to trying to do is stop the rumours building even more.

My thoughts too. Whether that is to show his support to McNamara I don't know but it probably is quite likely.

Funny though, we had all that gossip over players in recent years with hardly a thing from the club (Vainikolo, Hape, Uncle Tom Cobley to Leeds), now there's a much smaller rumour about Nobby and we have a statement.

A bit odd.

He's clearly trying to do rather more than just that, with the seemingly-unequivocal statement, I'd suggest?

Anyway, maybe Nobby is very worried where he will be coaching next year?

Maybe somebody has been trying to put pressure on the Bulls to appoint Noble next year, through the rumour machine or by other means and maybe by trying to stir the fans up?

Maybe Hood is sick and tired of it so was determined to put a stop to it?

I speculate, obviously, but I agree the step was unusual.

As Bullseye states we've had numerous rumours over the last few years and we have never had the club come out with a denial like they have now. Something must have made them do it but we'll never find out why.

I do accept on reflection that Hood's flat denial of a specific rumour (that Nobby would be reappointed) does not per se ensure Macca's contract renewal ... this is another issue

Until maybe the memoirs are written!

And yes, spot on.

I just posted this on the T&A board, where an old friend and his aliases seem to have free reign and, true to form, resorts to personal attacks whenever he is rumbled:

"Maybe it was partly because of the concerted and relentless campaign of destabilisation by certain people, including multiple-aliases, and with a clear agenda, that Hood decided to act?

Just a thought?"
