I don't mind Sykes at 6 and still think it's probably his best position, when he isn't half asleep and dropping every pass that comes his way (as he had a spell of at Headingley last week).
As a centre though, he just isn't good enough. In particular, his defence is absolutely terrible. For a team who has the likes of Scott Naylor and Ben Harris at Right Centre, it's so much different to have someone who couldn't tackle a 10 year old.
If Jeffries does leave and no replacement comes though, Sykes is definitely our best option for 6 next year. However a combination of Sykes and Deacon as our first choice half pairing wouldn't exactly have me wetting myself with anticipation.
