Time to throw the Young Bulls In : Tue Jul 14, 2009 8:45 pm
Yes that is right, Sunday was load of rubbish.

It's come to the point now were people WILL NOT be getting a season pass for next year.

I would rather get beat 50-0 and have 13 players play there heart out ofr this once great club then have 13 overpaid ------------------

Go on to lose by 20+, 30+, 40+ with no passion or pride.

With nothing to play for let's see what the future holds and blood some of the younger players in to the action.

Spot on Mick.

Whilst I don't mean to pick on the guy individually, the likes of Newton should not be needed to play for the club again. It would serve no purpose.

I think it would be foolish to throw a full team of youngsters out, but in reality, the playoffs are looking out of reach, so it would be a good opportunity to blood a couple of the kids each week

I agree 100% with that.

Newton and Jeffries who are leaving should NOT BE playing.

It's time to blood these "GOOD YOUNG PLAYERS" that we have Hyde, Donaldson just like Leeds did with Burrow and Hull FC Richard Horne in years gone by.

Both are GB/England players now and are gamebreakers to boot.

If McNamara doesn't do something along these lines then Im sorry but what is the point in playing a mickey poor under performing team that has done nothing all year long.

Once it's mathematically impossible to qualify for the 8 then yes yes yes. Until then, no.

I agree, the guys that are on their way should be replaced by the lads that we keep hearing are the future of the club.
If the youth policy is working so well, thengive em a chance. Lets see the lads in action to give us an insight into this bright future we're hearing so much about.

I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying.

The trouble is that a lot of the youngster aren't physically mature enough yet.

Since this could possibly be the first time in the SL era that we don't qualify for the playoffs it will be interesting to see how SM reacts to the situation of having a few games of the season left with nothing to play for (apart from pride).

If it does get to the point when the playoffs are out of reach then I would hope for some changes to the starting 17, which could give us some further insight into who is leaving etc.

As long as we can still mathematically reach 8th position there is no way SM is going to start dropping players. If he had the guts to do that he would have dropped some long before now.

My worst fear is that we limp along for the rest of the season still mathematically able to reach the play-offs. It's entirely possible given the relatively easier (I qualify that by saying nothing appears to be 'easy' this season) run in that we have.

We could end up in a scenario where we maintain some hope of making the 8 right up until the last game, but miss out. I agree with posters who say that MacNamara is not likely to start dropping players until we are out of contention for the Top 8. We might end up having no games left with which to blood younger players for next season.

In some ways it might be better to fall out of play off contention sooner rather than later, and have a few games left to ring the changes. Since we're unlikely to progress beyond one match in the play offs, I'd rather be constructively building for next year.

Fair point, and others have been injured. But there are some who must surely be at least ready for a taste, now we've nothing but pride to play for. You watch them probably more than most on here, who do you reckon should get a shout or two? I'm partcularly thinking of Hyde.
