Cummings says (I'm not at all) sorry... : Wed Jul 15, 2009 9:41 am
...for spate of mistakes;
Stuart Cummings has apologised to the Bulls

...after admitting his officials got major decisions wrong in the club’s last two games.

"“There were two tries that shouldn’t have been given against Cas,”

“Semi (Tadulala) was taken out in the air at a crucial point at the start of the second half and there was also a knock-on in the build-up to the Rangi Chase try. "

"He (Cummings) contacted coach Steve McNamara after the Rovers reverse, in which a Jamie Langley ‘try’ was incorrectly ruled out when Bradford trailed just 16-12 early in the second half. "

McNamara doesn’t blame the error for his side’s loss and added: “I’m not looking for it to be an excuse. "

Im Glad Cummings has owned up, but it doesn't help us a whole lot now. The Hull KR ones wouldn't have made too much difference I feel but the Cas ones might have. Oh well. **** happens, onwards and upwards.

Do we get the points then?

The Cas one is a big call. That changed the game. It appears the ref and his "assistants" were the only ones who didn't see it.

Oh well, it about sums up our luck this year.

The thing is, though, in rugby like in most games, you tend to get the luck when you don't need it!

An apology isn't good enough really. We all saw that Tadulala was taken out in the Cas game, but only the referee didn't. Cummings needs to do something about the quality of refereeing.

McNamara is keen to see video referees at all matches, a call he reiterated at Leeds last month when Sheriffe had a contentious late effort ruled out to deny the Bulls another win.

Could I just point out that you still wouldnt have won as there were more than 6 points difference at the end of the game and all the whingeing and whining wouldnt have given Sherrife a try as he was over the line before he put the ball down down

You may have been badly done to on the last 2 occasions but Slapnamara cant keep blaming the referees for ruining what was a good team he has to take the blame for that

If I were you, I'd read the rest of the article before you start mouthing off. That way you don't look a complete tit.

Specifically, the bit shortly after, where McNamara agrees that the Sheriffe thing at Leeds wasn't a try anyway and that the TJ got it spot on.

Cummings apologised last year as well for tries we had disallowed or tries that should have been disallowed, still doesnt alter fact that we cant just rely on referee doing his job properly if players can`t, we never pressurise kicker or use a blocker ala senior, we just turn our heads round and hope that our wingers take the ball.

And you know that how exactly? That's why its contentious, it was a 50 50 call. Some would give it, some wouldn't. And had it been a Leeds try that denied them a victory, you can bet you could hear the wailing from here.
