I sent an email to the Rfl as outlined below.
Last year I believe that 5 live organised a collection of old replica football shirts in conjunction with the Football Association. The collection of supporters replica kit was then donated to developing countries and issued to the local populace.
I wonder if the RFL might consider organising a similar campaign so that RL fans could donate their old replica shirts with the aim of distributing them to RL organisations in some of the development areas i.e. Lebanon.
This would possibly gain some publicity as well as provide some shirts which could be re used by local clubs or supporters.
I am aware that many RL fans have old shirts ( I have several old Huddersfield shirts) and would be willing to provide them for such a good cause.
I hope that you could consider this suggestion and raise it with the appropriate person at the RFL.
Michael
I recieved the following reply
Hi Michael,
Some of the clubs are already doing this. I am aware of Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls. May I
suggest you contact them or may be the Huddersfield Giants may do something similar.
Regards
Seems a bit dissapointing to me to leave it up to indavidual clubs rather than a RFL initiative
