In comparison to last years Sky viewing figures (which incidentally were very poor and well down on previous seasons), this season they are even worse.

Currently 33% down on last season up to the beginning of March thus far.

None of that will rate a mention on the RFL website or in any of the Moonie RL websites or publications.

That's a worrying stat, I'd be interested to understand the context, namely:

- when did thursday/Monday games come in and what do viewing figures for these slots look like compared to the slot(s) they replaced? (ie is there an underlying issue akin to the nonsensical comparison of attendances at games played on a Thursday night to games played on a Sunday that I often see in here)
- what are the like for like Friday v Friday comparisons like?

On the face of it the TV figures for last year are worrying.

Could be down to the number of games now shown on SS3 (in itself worrying, in so far as this is hardly the flagship channel). Reason being that those running the BT Vision set-up while subscribing to Sky Sports only receive SS1 and 2.

Or it could just be that people are losing interest? For Salford to lose 4,500 spectators from the same fixture last year says its possible.

It'd be surprising if no-one was losing interest. The question is, how many? FWIW the flash in the pan that was a 7k+ crowd against Wakey suggests to me that most of those can't have had much interest in the first place.

It's not the "same fixture" though is it?

This is the same sort of bilge argument that I recently read about Saints crowds being down because a televised Friday night game against Cas in the February cold drew less than the "equivalent" top of the table, non-televised clash in late June on a gloriously sunny Sunday afternoon in 2014.

Spot on.

Comparing the Wakey crowd at Salford yesterday to the same fixture last year (First game of the season of a new owner and new team with a full pre-season of hype) is a pointless exercise. I don't understand why the crowd speccies don't take into account all the other factors. It can't have anything to do with cherry-picking what they require to make a point, surely? ;)

Sky TV viewing figures for SL (2015)
Fri - STS V CAT Rd 1 (SS1) - 156K
Thu - WID V WIG Rd 1 (SS2) - 156K

Fri - WIG V HUD Rd 2 (SS1) - 188K
Thu - SAL V STS Rd 2 (SS2) - 148K
Sat - CAT V CAS Rd 2 (SS3) - 81K

Fri - STS V CAS Rd 3 (SS1) - 120K
Thu - LEE V HUD Rd 3 (SS3) - 132K
Sat - CAT V WAR Rd 3 (SS3) - 71K

Sky TV viewing figures for WCC (2015)
Fri - WAR V STG (SS1) - 140K
Sat - WIG V BNE (SS1) - 169K
Sun - STS V SOU (SS1) - 225K

And that's your lot.

Want more info? Want last years figures? What day they were broadcast on? What Sky Sports channel they were broadcast on, etc?

Check out the BARB website, it's all there. Years of it. Get it yourself. Or don't bother and keep wearing those blinkers.

I'm done with furnishing blinkered SL Moonie forums with info, especially when those who express opinions or provide relevant comparative data are now routinely banned by those whose contribution to this forum is precisely the square root of nothing.

There's nothing comparatively nonsensical in the fact that SL attendances were 10.4% down in 2013 and 4.90% down in 2014 either. And they are down again in 2015 already! Only a bunch of SL Moonies would argue otherwise.

Enjoy your dying sport.

And to Gutterfax and others who have been banned for expressing diverse opinion? This forum is worse as a result of your absence.

May as well rename it total rl moonie dot com 8)

Can't be bothered, which is why I checked whether someone who seems to have a weird fixation with these things and nothing better to do with their life had already compiled it for me.

Not to worry.
