The most important point is tv viewing figures are down severely, not the person delivering that news.
Couldn't agree more. We need to understand why to be able to do anything about it.
I don't think it's sensible to ignore scheduling changes when trying to understand why?
It may be that like for like TV viewing figures are down a long way, which would be very concerning indeed.
It might be that the new timing slots are less attractive, or that we are being shown on channels with less subscribers. This would still be concerning but in a slightly different way and with slightly different consequences.
Likelihood is it's a mixture of reasons, which all need to be properly considered. But it seems some people will only consider it to be 100% due to a decline in viewer interest or 100% due to scheduling.
For what it's worth I think the standard has been poor so far this year and I look forward to watching the TV games less than I did = decline in viewer interest. I also, however, sometimes still completely forget about the Thursday night games (for some reason the only night stamped in my mind as a TV RL night is Friday), plus I have BT Vision = scheduling.
I am speaking from a position of ignorance though as I have zero clue how the figures are compiled.
