That is not fair. The Australian people whom I have met throughout my lifetime have been in the majority decent and kind human beings, even kinder in many instances than the members of much longer established British or French civilisations. There are only a small minority of degenerates in Australia, who commit murder or rape, or bash women or old people, and these are people who deserve to be punished severely.

If Benjamin Barba is found guilty of assaulting his partner Ainslie, or the two Australian Good Samaritans who came to her assistance, he will likely go to prison.

I disagree, having lived over there for a number of years I feel I have a good take on them and hence why we moved back. Fair enough about the rape, murder etc but on a whole there not the nicest

Looks like Saints dodged a bullet there. You'd like to think that in this day and age domestic violence would be a bridge to far for any club to take him on.

Shame for his wife and kids, it's their lives as well as his own that he is flushing down the toilet.

Good point, Mrs Barba and the children are the ones who are the victims here, and deserve our sympathy.

Reigning Man of Steel Ben Barba will not be welcome back in Super League if he is banned by the NRL, the Rugby Football League has warned.

The 29-year-old former St Helens full-back, who was the leading try-scorer in Super League in 2018, was sacked by his new club, North Queensland Cowboys, without playing a game over an alleged assault on his partner outside a Townsville casino.

The incident is being investigated by Queensland police and Barba looks likely to be banned for life by the NRL.

If that happens, the Rugby Football League say it will uphold the suspension, blocking a route back to Super League.

Worth remembering that Salford have a player currently on the sex offenders’ register and who spent two years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman and then smashing a glass in her face, leaving his victim with lifelong injuries.

Whilst not condoning Barba’s alleged behaviour, surely the RFL would be on dodgy ground given that they allow Greg Johnson to continue playing?

Didn't Lui plead guilty to domestic abuse too?

Yes, and Jackson Hastings allegedly assaulted Manly half back Daly Cherry-Evans. That alleged event led to Hastings being demoted from the Manly NRL team, and eventually finding his way to Salford, where he now partners Lui.

An alledged altercation between team mates is a bit different from a criminal conviction though.
I seem to remeber Catalans taking Greg Bird when he faced charges of assaulting his partner, and then extending his contract when he was found guilty.
