Wigan : Thu Feb 05, 2015 9:57 pm
What does everyone think of their performance tonight? 12-0 up and handed a huge boost by the referee with that farcical red card and they've been bossed ever since. Widnes would have won this by 20 tonight if it wasn't for that card. Bar Sutton who has been hugely impressive in defense, they look a disorganised and indisciplined rabble. You would think they would have learned their lesson from last season, but it appears the scum and villainy is still a major part of the makeup at Wigan.

They are fortunate that the rest of SL aren't that impressive, but they look very average. A poor pack, average half backs, too many dumb, indisciplined players who cannot handle the pressure. Warrington by plenty for SL this season I think.

Was Phil Clarke about to say they had the best squad ever before it kicked off as well? He told us they had the best in SL about seven times then until he was interrupted appeared to be about to say that.

How did Joel Tomkins escape any punishment for charging in after the last Widnes try ?

Good to see from Joel Tomkins tonight that Wane is still feeding his team raw meat before kickoff even after the Flower incident. Even though he wasn't anywhere near the original incident at the end he ran over like a kid that's had too much fizzy pop chasing after Hanbury, couldn't get him so charged through Phelps.....what a moron.

They're a little bit tetchy aren't they?

I imagine every head coach in SL has watched that thinking how easy they are to wind up. Bunch of penalty machines, particularly Tomkins.

First 20 minutes or so Wigan looked like they would romp it, 12 men or not. After the sending off they just stopped playing. I don't want to belittle what Widnes did because a point in those circumstances is excellent, but Wane must be livid with his players.

Sky fawned over Williams but he needs to be a lot better than that if Wigan are going to challenge. Reminded me of Jacob Miller. Good feet, all the skills, but no real idea of how to unlock a defence. The attack often broke down when the ball got to him.

Having an extra man can put on the pressure and put you off your game plan. I think Wigan would have won, not lost by 20 had Ah Van stay on.

We'll never know though.

Everything seemed to go the Warriors way tonight.
So what?! If it had all gone Widnes' way they wouldn't of been any comment on it.

Wigan will get better.

Playing with no centres after the Ah Van incident didn't help us. We need to do better though, Sutton impressed me massively tonight.

Phil Clarke 'best squad' bizarre comment, though he is A Wiganner. Young players 'with potential' mixed in some very good players.....hardly worthy of Phil's remark.

Seems to me a shadow of the side from last year. I thought they were awful, nearly as bad as the ref (who tried his best to give them a victory).
But well done Widnes, heart, spirit in abundance. I'd imagine a few of the 'lesser' sides will get results this week and the league won't be so cut and dry as the bookies see it. I can see this seasons placings having a few shocks in it this year.

Got away with quite a bit didn't they ? guess you can blame Child and his mates of being scared of giving anything against them though...good, hard battle for the neutrals to start the season with !
