In the League Express, “ Referees can penalise, advance the mark ten metres, sin-bin and even dismiss”.
Why are they not doing all of the above?”
Exactly. Penalties for dissent are quite rare. So either there’s a bit of over-hyping the “disrespect” toward referees, or referees aren’t using the tools available to them.
I would have a 10 second shock clock on disputing decisions with a forfeit of 10 metres.
A 0s time would be more appropriate. Any disputing decisions should be 10m, repeated if the dispute continues and a yellow card, followed by a red if it still goes on.

Hmm I wouldn't have said they were that rare tbh. Thaler in particular doesn't take any mouthing off from players and gave a penalty against a Saints player while he was in possession of the ball just last week.

Russell Smith wasn't shy of marching teams back 10m for dissent. Above once he took them back another 10m because they carried on mouthing off!

The other week our LMS got sent off with a yellow card for not talking and not looking in the direction of the ref.
