Unbelievable finish with bad arm but not his best finish this year that 2nd try v hull was awesome even fonua were shaking his head about that he is best in super league at finishing

There is no doubt TJ is the best British winger in the game. There is some strong competition as well. Makinson and TJ should be first voice on current form. Grace is classy but his physicality would be hugely exploited by the Aussies et. Even TJ who is a big lad will struggle the first few times he faces the big men.

Yep he is awesome. Hope he can stay injury free and keep building on his defence, will be a shoe-in for the next international series.

I just cant see us hanging on to him if hes ambitious and injury free wii go to nrl either next or year after

I agree he is a unbelievable finisher, but it’s hard to see where he would go

Superb winger, but when he got injured early on in the 1st half, I thought that's him out for a few months. Not a bad pair of wingers in Johnstone and that hippy from Toronto !

I havnt seen that much of him to be honest.
1 because Wakey arent on tv as much as other sides and 2 because of his injury record.

Undoubtedly a fantastic finisher but the bits i have seen, he doesnt seem to do much in terms of yardage coming out of his own end.

Whats he like defensively and under the high ball?

Think you need to take a look at his highlights.
As for not being used to bring the ball out, I dont think you can judge his efforts based on yesterdays game.
Usually both wingers are used to very good effect on exit sets but, given that he'd taken a serious knock to his left arm in the opening few minutes, he wasn't used too much bringing the ball out, which was absolutely the right call.

Under the circumstances, the lad did well to play the full 80.

If you look at stats hes pretty much always over 140m a game hes good under high ball bit naive in defence but so is our entire left hand side and has been for about 6 years now all in all am pleased he plays for us but if he were at wigan saints or wire you would constantly hear about him

Makinson has been finishing like this for years. That said, Johnstone is definitely the second best winger in SL after Makinson. Those 2 are light years ahead of any other SL wingers. People say “I wonder what Johnstone would be like at a top team”. You don’t need to wonder. He doesn’t need to be a top team to show how good he is. Both him and Makinson should be England’s wingers for years to come
