I just read Underhill's comments on the BBC website responding to England R.U's performance against the Welsh.
" If you don't like scrums & line outs go watch Rugby League"!. Isn't a comment like this a great opportunity for our sports marketing team to get a hold of and push to a new audience?

Matt Dawson - “There were five offloads in that game. As much as I am a purist and there will be parts I enjoy, my kids are not watching the game. They are thinking it is just a load of bodies on the floor. ....Far too often now, rugby is turgid.”

So probably around 10% of union followers - doesn't amount to a lot off people across the nation, and let's be honest, as pointed out regularly on here, Union is only played in the South / South West, so unless we are serious about expansion, marketing would be a waste of money.

You honestly believe Union is 'only played in the south/south west'?
I would like to run an idea by you all & I am fair game, reasonably thick *skinned* & so prepared to take the fall out !
If I were in such a position at SLE/RFL or able to pull the strings of both, then I could see mileage in this.
Take the headline/strap line & put out a video of some of the dreariest RU available to really sombre dreary music & a juxtaposing piece of hard hitting, fast & aggressive, skillful R.L to hard hitting rap or rock music & get it out there to as many outlest & as often as possible.
Get into a war of words with Kick & Clap, much in the same way as Wire & Salford did on Twitter.
Keep poking the fire & raising the profile, above all invest in the profile of Rugby League.
A little too ambitious for our current incumbents I suppose, but then I get the impression they don't like to think or do !!!
