Your 100 great Willows moments : Tue Jul 19, 2011 10:49 pm
As we're moving towards the end of the old dear's life, think it's about time we get together our favourite moments at The Willows. We're not limiting it to matches, it could be any memory. Plus you can't just say 'that Wigan cup game'. It has to be an encapsulated moment. For example:Let's go back to the 88/89 season. Salford are 11-12 down against the champions, Widnes, with a minute to go. David Cairns shapes up for a drop-goal but instead chips ahead. It's a race between Alan Tait and Adrian Hadley... And Hadley grounds the ball first to score. Mega.
Or what about the Leeds match in 1999 that John Foran and Steve O'Neill took charge of after Greg's sacking. A great effort despite narrow loss, but as memorable for the ball hitting Steve O'Neill right on his noggin, sending his headset flying.
