To Hull FC on a 3 year deal next season, bad news. I thought the days of losing our best players were over

What made you think that?

Club signed Josh Jones and gave Junior Sau contract extension in last 12 months so you can hardly expect him to stay if a bigger club comes along with an offer.

Same reason Fages/Sneyd left as club showed lack of faith and signed other players.

Off topic slightly,

Interesting how much he mentions the lack of fans we have and how he wants to play in front of big crowds. is this a real pull factor for players? Id have thought it wouldnt have mattered.

‘Obviously it was tough to leave Salford as I enjoyed my time there and still have friends at the club.
‘But you’ve got a chance to do something special. because I knew we had a good enough squad to play in big games,’ he said.

not Griffin , but Holdsworth in 2012.
they always say that . I'm not going to be slighted by comments like these . players get paid to play & Salford are operating on a tighter budget.

and the future of Salford ( and more crowds & ' Big Games ) is not through Josh Griffin but here.

Good luck to him, he's served us well. By the sounds of it we made him an offer of what we thought he was worth and someone decided to offer him more, and a bigger club to boot. C'est la vie. It's not like we don't have other options in the back line and it means we now have some (more?) pennies to spend on improving the pack, which is what we really need.

I say thanks for the service and many enjoyable times.

Note to Mario: I'm no capitalist nor a neo-liberal in any fashion but expect that any successful team has competition for places. Yes, it's another player going to Hull FC that I would rather have kept. But in a business where your replacement is always round the corner, this is life. Any chance of a bit of positivity here?

Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”

Why do you say that? I wonder what denotes a 'bigger' club? Is it the size of the ground, the number of fans, the history?
I've sat with you guys at a couple of London games and you definitely enjoy your away days. Your players also came round to shake hands and get pictures taken.
With every club able to spend up to a cap, what makes one club any more attractive than another to a player?

TBH we are a smaller club than 'Ull in pretty much every respect! Small crowds, football mad city, lack of success pretty much sums that up. You could argue that FC are massive underachievers despite the fact Hull is a big rugby city and with their resources and fan base they really should have challenged more regularly for the league and challenge cup over the years.

I'd argue that the hardcore Salford fan is as passionate and knowledgeable as any other fan in the game and generally we're a doecent and level headed bunch.

As for Mario...... you're an utter embarassment. Just wind your neck in you little t*rd!

As for Josh....I wish him well. Great team player and genuinely wish him all the best. Hopefully, we bring in a young, hungry replacement who will wear the shirt with pride as Josh has done.
