Still a long way to go until we have a classy chairman who laughs at other clubs going bust and doesn’t pay players.

By the way, enjoy your battle for 3rd from bottom lmao

Looks like Myler is not playing to the accepted norms of club management behaviour. I suspect it will not end well for him and having upset Leigh and Warrington in a single day, doors will start to close.

First game was in 1967, and have been hooked since day 1. Now live in Vancouver, Canada but follow our team any way I can.

Money talks, and it appears that he has the backing of that at Hull
but, he will have to be careful for sure Sep. If he keeps peeing people off at this rate, respect and trust will erode very quickly.
I also question the long term wiseness of the Asiata move for Hull.
Listening to Derek prior to the game, he makes a lot of sense and put a very common sense business reason why John is not going to be at Leigh next season. Reasoning that I agree with for what it worth.

Asiata would not have been offered anything like that to go back to nrl. To say he’s not gone for the money is laughable. He looking after his family and I don’t blame him for that. Hull want to spend a big chunk of their salary cap on a 32 year old, who at the moment has a few injury issues, good luck.

After feeling down about the result and and the last couple of days, watching Derek with the pre match actually made me feel better, common sense, business sense all came into play even a bit of medical science regarding John's injuries got thrown in there.Think Derek obviously feels the nervy feeling amongst the fans at the minute " trust me and the process" might settle us down but a bit of good news will go a long way

Great statement of intent and sure to make other captures easier to get over the line. Wonder if Myler has rung two wingers in France yet?

Yes he has, and they told him to get real…

Have just read DB, s article in the HDM and he talks a lot of sense. Asiata has gone for the money full stop. All they need now is another 12 like him. He,s going to be in a struggling side that ain’t going to win a thing in the next three years. As for Lam…if he goes, the next silverware he’ll get is the poison chalice.

At the end of the day he’s gone for the money and the three years. He will be 35 at the end of his contract.Worse still would be if Lammy followed him. I doubt this will happen as he has said he loves his job at Leigh and is half way through a five year plan. Does he want to walk away from that and start all over again rebuilding another squad completely.

Literally half your team are already that age.

Yes some are, however they are either out of contract at end of year or only one year left. We still don’t know who has extended or who we have signed for next year onwards.

Having digested all the information, I now believe that Hull is playing Russian Roulette with the clubs finances. 31 year old Asiata is undoubtedly a rare talent in Super League, but Leigh have hardly had value for money since the Challenge Cup final.
The latest injury, reportedly out of another 6 weeks is on the back of just 21 minutes in the home game against Catalans.

Derek has explained that having assessed John, he was worth a one year extension. This was pushed to 2 years because it was Asiata. One player is not worth financially risking the club's stability, especially if the contract needs to be terminated after just one year. Of course John Asiata takes the contract because he is due a last pay day whether he plays or not.
