The only reason we have this policy is because we are skint..........no other reason than that.

As for today, well I thought we showed what we were capable of at times but we need to play for a full 80 minutes not 10 minutes here and there.

The attack is very flat and certainly won't open up the likes of Widnes, Barrow and Fax, but if that is what the coach wants then what else can the players do?

Reckon we had half of the crowd there today, Ian, pleasant surprise to see so many travelling over.

On the positive side, Mort's second try was a corker. Not sure who made the initial break, but great support play and really impressive acceleration to break away. Hobson's try wasn't a bad one either.

Think we got out of jail again today though, if Donny could catch a ball then I genuinely think we'd have lost today. They bombed a ton of chances out wide and make some poor decisions at times; the centre trying to sidestep Maden when all he had to do was draw Maden to him and then give the ball to his supporting winger in what would have been little more than an under 8's 2v1 move.

A win's a win, and with a league as competitive as ours we have to be happy with that, but the same old mistakes keep cropping time and again.

i agree but lots of fans on this forum seem to suggest this policy is the way forward even if we did have money to spend .

well im at a loss a few month back everyone was calling for local lads to be given the chance to play for leigh and after a few league games people are saying they are not good enough, rome wasnt built in a day springs to mind

good post i agree we need to give these young uns a fair chance.

i do understand that but it needs to be built in 2 years in time for the next licence application.

Correct...................local talent is a step in the right direction, but it needs to be quality.

Unfortunately all the quality players who come through the local junior teams generally end up at Wigan, Saints or Wire not Leigh.

Its easy to say we have youth in the side so it needs time, but we don't have any future SL standard players in there apart from possibly Higson, but to be honest for him to progress as a player he would need to move on to a bigger club IMHO.

Quality young players need quality around them to improve and progress, they don't need to be out there every week carrying some of there team mates in a competition like this, that just plateau's there development and enthusiasm.

We absolutely need to give young local talent a chance. There is no other way forward. A team needs to develop. I think the difficult thing is to keep them together so they develop as a team. And as has been said, we have no money for anything else. This team will get better as the season goes on, no doubt about it and we have some good players to come back from injury. I think the future is looking good...well, goodish!

how can you say theres no quality after a few league games the trouble with some people is they expect to much to soon the best players in the world needed time at some point
