15v3 against us in the penalty count?
Are we so indisciplined?
A great try ruled out by a touch judge 50metres away?
Lee Marsh welcome back.
Two poor sides today and we let them back in it afer having the game won (with a lot of help from South Yorkshire PC Laughton.
A wins a win tho well done lads
I think our discipline was just as ad as Laughton, way too many high shots and flying arms and they should eradicated ASAP. I think if Alsteads try had been given it would of been won but, the linesman spotted a 70 metre forward pass that no-one else saw. Watson once again pulling the strings, 40/20 which resulted in a try and a beautiful ball to Hilly in which allowed him to offload to Hobson. Good return for Marshy, threw some great passes and gave us a physical prescence in defence.
Performance today very Curate's egg - good in some places, bad in others. I really thought at 24-6 we would have put them to the sword, but no, we press the self destruct button and nearly gave it away. Every time we threw more than a couple of passes gaps appeared, we just didn't throw more than 2 passes often enough. Still, welcome back Marshy, laid on the first try and threw some good passes and was a physical prescence. I thought McConnel went well again, but guilty, if anything of trying a little too hard. Shame Durbin was injured (I think) as after 20 mins or so he could have replaced Jock and would, I'm sure, have run them ragged. Wingfield and Haggerty are coming on and I'm sure this team will only get better. Watson also had another good game as he had some help in defence today, not exposed like he was last week. We are, however the only team that ever gets a player sinbinned for a high tackle...still, we shouldn't do them I suppose. As you say, a win's a win and well done.

What is it with us and touch judges. Most of the time they are unwilling to stick their neck out and put the flag up for the most blatant of offences.
But with us they seem to have the vision of lee majors when it comes to chalking off tries.
I still wake in cold sweats about the one that cost us the game v Fax at home last year!!!!
Did i watch a differant game??? have read the comments on this page for a long time and have been watching leigh for a lot longer!!! we are poor flat in attack devoid of ideas. I was in line with leigh a lot of times today in attack and we line up like we are in defence so so flat. I agree how a linesman can see a forward pass from the other side when the linesman up with play says nothing??? i will never know.......However it doesnt paper over any cracks have watched every game this year and we are incapable of killing a game off and our discipline is shocking what happened to putting your shoulder in in a tackle instead of arms and hands at head height all the time. They must learn its a lot harder to compete if your tackling all the time?!?!? I might not last long on this forum but can the love in please stop we have serious problems when other teams ie. Batley Sheffield Whitehaven Gateshead seem to be able to unearth better talent, stronger bigger forwards and miles faster wingers and backs on less crowds than we have??? Arnt we supposed to be a hot bed of talent..... I am Leigh thro and thro and would rather not watch any rugby if Leigh wernt around but these are very very trying times!!!!
Another awful game. In truth, to me, they looked like two relegation candidates. John Kear was there, spying on us, but disapperaed with the score 0-0, (after about 25 minutes) and looking to stay like that!
As regards the penalty count- we probably couldn't argue with the ones against us, (we must cut out the high shots) but I can't accept that our opponents only transgressed three times in eighty minutes. Even in my biased opinion, a high shot is just that, whatever colour of shirt you are wearing! And a ref who was a joke in SL, for never giving a forward pass, disallows two 'tries', for that reason! Also, he accepted everything his t/j's said, except when Doncaster scored from the ball steal. He certainly didn't see the incident, as he was running the other way! And finally, the way he ignored the injury to Adam Higson, was just criminal. Even the Donny players were more concerned about Adam, than playing on!
Rant over - I'm sure when we get him at home, the penalty count will be just as heavily in our favour!

ave you seen the players at these teams????
mcgivalry for 1.[ super league player on loan, wont be at batley long ]
the png/fiji? players at sheffield plus ropati [how they are under salary cap??]
mcnally at haven best player in this league FACT.another on loan and will be back at hudds before end of season.
the amount of aussies at gateshead.
HOW many young players are getting 1st team games at these clubs?
cant see your point,or are you sayin we should get half of the south pacific over. and unfortunately the super league clubs around us will always ave a bigger draw when it comes to leigh youth. its a new team with young local talent playin REMEMBER its a long road ahead, i personally think this season we wont get relegated but the experience of a season under these lads belts will be the making of this great club.atleast these lads want to play for leigh and not some kind off journey men.
TODAY we saw two bad teams , im honest enough to say we wont finish in thetop 6 playing like this ,we have just played the worst 2 teams in the comp and lost won and struggled to beat the other, what we are doing is very puzzling,we dont create enough chances ,our high tacles are plentiful ,hard to say about the forward pass ,but we dont seem to have a clue , read the riot act MR KELLY ,,IM VERY AFRAID when we meet FAX AND THE MUTANTS .
Just back from Donny and all in all a very enjoyable day.
For what it's worth i'll give you my verdict on the day.....Now as my name implies i write positive about the days events.
Pleasant drive up, no delays, and arrived in Donny in good time.
Meal in the local Premier Inn, great mixed grill for me, and Mrs Optimist opted for the roast beef dinner. Tremendous value for money!
Arrived at ground and sat in the west stand, watched the team warm up, and both enjoyed the sun shine.
Pity the rugby had to spoil it!
Seriously, i really did enjoy the game, gone are the days when a Leigh team can expect the opposition to roll over. The Championship is a tight competition where any team can beat another.
Lee Marsh went well, and gave us a better option on the left hand side, also bolsters our defence.
Pleased with Rourke, tireless worker.....Kurt Haggerty looks a prospect, and i really do hope we make him a permanent signing.
Mort went well, 16 points not to be sniffed at, and his 2nd try was a peach!
Chris Hill made good yards.....however our discipline needs improving. The 2nd half sin binning seems to have become a regular occurance and we need to learn from this......however some of Ronnie Laughtons decisions defy logic, poor referee imo. Intervention of the the touch judge on my side regarding Alsteads disallowed try on the far side puzzled me, looked ok to me, then again what do i know?
So there you have it....A good day out for Mr and Mrs Optimist.
Oh...And just for good measure we decided to drive the scenic way back.
Isn't that what it's all about, getting out there, supporting your team, but above all watching the great spectacle of rugby league.

i agree...the theory of playing these young amateurs is only advantageous if these young lads are going to be able to cut it and take the club forward.
at the moment i cant say hand on heart that they are going to make it.
what happens if our competitors continue to strengthen and we stick with this policy we will just fall further behind and our crowds will go into freefall.
hope i misjudged these players.
but i do not see a rowley, baldwin , or scott martin in this present crop from the amateur game.
