POTY 2013? : Thu Aug 22, 2013 10:05 am
Probably a bit late with this now I suppose after goodbyes were said, important questions were avoided etc... on Saturday but are we having a player of the year award this year?

FWIW my vote would go to Jamie Soward, can't remember the last time I've enjoyed watching a player in London colours so much, he's had me out of my seat cheering on so many occasions in his all too brief spell with us - can't remember a player getting such a response out of me since maybe Mark McLinden's early days at Griffin Park! The try at Sheffield (and the celebration!) one of the real high points (only other one that comes to mind is Dixon's hat trick against Bradford at Wycombe, especially the length of the pitch try) of an utterly dire season!

Young player? Erjon Dollapi for me, always seems up for it and might just be the best local grown forward the club has produced if he continues to develop as he has done this season.

Re: POTY 2013? : Thu Aug 22, 2013 10:15 am
dead heat for me between:

Dixon - who was so thrilling in March/April/May and could do no wrong, scoring some brilliant individual tries

and Tommy Lee - consistent and versatile

Whilst Soward has been great, giving him a POTY award cheapens the whole concept IMO. He's had a handful of good games, one of which was against a team in the league below. He's not really been able to shine because so many players around him just aren't up to scratch.

Erjon definitely young player of the year. My vote would go to Fisher, he has been the most consistent player, good replacement for JuJu.

It would probably be POT(T)Y to award a player of the year, this year!

Not out to 'cheapen the award' just JS (with Dixon early in the season) is about the only player out of our current lot I looked forward to watching and would pay good money to see, to be honest if it hadn't been for him I probably wouldn't have been ar5ed to go to any of the last few games! - if I wanted to take the mick or embarass the club I'd say give the award to Gower!

Seeing as Dotti has sensibly enough given up on this, I'd thought of trying to organise a website-only poll, but haven't got round to it. Still time though, if there are any of us left.

A few suggested criteria:
Only Broncos fans with 10 (?) or more posts to vote (so it wouldn't be a secret ballot)
Away attenders (not me) get 2 votes
Players eligible if they've been in the 17-man squad for at least half the games of the season and are still with the club at season-end
