Could be a massive embarrassment as only 1 volunteer has come forward to go round and do a collection. Plenty people thought it should be done. The club approached the RFL for permission and then no one comes forward to help. (I know a lot of people are tied up with other voluntary jobs but I thought Lister and his pals and a few others would have come forward. I know this is a voluntary thing to do and people are busy with other things like getting friends and family to the match and having a great time. But as this is a one off and such a great cause is there anyone who can help even thirty minute shifts would be helpful. The collection is due to take place between 1 pm and 2.45pm.

Obsessed. I'll be in the pub.

Welcome Quins Kitties born 02.04.09 -
Purdo - Determined, loveable with a "can-do" attitude. A born leader.
Louie - Big, white and fluffy. A very noisy prop forward.
Harley- Cute and gorgeous (just like our no.9) Well, I couldn't call her Chad, could I?
Update on Quins Mogs :-
Purdo - deffo leader amongst Mogs. The Capo.
Louie - turned out to be more like Louie Spence than LMS. Re-named Judas.
Harley - Cute but not as gorgeous as our no.9.
Oh well, at least I haven't got a Willy.

sorry mate but orginsining this sort of thing without having the volunteers in place is not actually embaressment its bad planning!! or misjudged
Who first muted the collection?
Please dont try and blame the fans for lack of volunteers for this, if it is club arranged then its down to the club to sort
If is a charity arranged, then get the charity to sort
If its a personal thing, then make sure the backing is there

Again I will say I sympathy for what happened out there, but i personally question where the money will be going
Maybe best approach is to show respect in an appropriate way, I dont think giving money is that way sorry!

(sorry mate but orginsining this sort of thing without having the volunteers in place is not actually embaressment its bad planning!! or misjudged )

Who first muted the collection? The club responded to fans asking for donations from the tickets to be made or for a bucket collection
Please dont try and blame the fans for lack of volunteers for this, if it is club arranged then its down to the club to sort – I am not and never would blame the fans – Each fan is entitled to do whatever they want to – they can volunteer help if they wish. They are free to walk in watch a game and go straight home, they are free to come along and join the party afterwards. Each fan has their own agenda and I would never ever suggest anything else. I was asking where the fans who wanted the collection were and where were the fans who suggested to the club that they would be willing to go round with buckets.
If is a charity arranged, then get the charity to sort – It is a charity who asked the club for help with collections and due to the points raised on the forum they approached me to ask if I could drum up support for them and get volunteers. If its a personal thing, then make sure the backing is there This is not a personal thing as I am a fan and not an office based paid employee. I was asked for help and came forward with it but I am seriously beginning to wonder why I should bother to help with anything not just this appeal.

Again I will say I sympathy for what happened out there, but i personally question where the money will be going – Can’t answer that go along to the Red Cross Area today and ask them as they are the people responsible for the collections
Maybe best approach is to show respect in an appropriate way, I don’t think giving money is that way sorry! You don’t have to agree or give money, charity is a very personal thing and no two people will ever agree which is the best cause or way of helping.

to those who were questioning insurance, it is not uncommon in Oz for families doing it tough not to have contents or house insurance. It is a different culture here and insurance is often an after thought if money is tight. One family we are raising for is a single mum with 3 little girls who got out of their house by the skin of their teeth and with just the clothes on their backs. They lost everything (including the girls pony and dogs) and no contents insurance.

I hope the collection went well. It will be very much needed and well received.

whilst I fully support helping those in an emergency, who wouldn't?, you gotta wonder about priorities when you buy a pony over home insurance

collection buckets : Mon Feb 23, 2009 3:48 pm
Wasn't able to get to the game yesterday, - any idea how much the bucket collection raised? Whatever it was I'm really pleased that this was carried out at this particular game as not only would it have raised some money but it would also have done the club and its fans image a power of good ,especially with the crowd boosted by the expat Aussies present.

Absolutely. A nice touch.
