Re: Cup tie V Sheffield : Tue May 28, 2013 10:51 am
So if you don`t go to the Sheffield game it means that you are not a `real` fan/supporter....what utter cobblers.

I have followed this club since they were the `Crusaders`, followed them all over the south at their various `home grounds` and done a fair few away fixtures over the years, but should I decide not to go I am a `fair weather fan`!!!!

Well I have thought about it and decided not to take a day/afternoon off......my reasoning is that even though we are the worst team in SL by some distance, we still employ full-time professional players and therefore our win should be a given.....it`s on the box, so I will watch our win from the comfort of my own sofa while having a couple of beers. Given this is the LB of course my confidence may well be mis-placed and should it all go t*t`s up I would have no wish to be there to witness our downfall (yet again).........and quite frankly I could not give a toss if that makes me a `bad` supporter because this club has just about killed off my enthusiasm for the sport.

Welcome Quins Kitties born 02.04.09 -
Purdo - Determined, loveable with a "can-do" attitude. A born leader.
Louie - Big, white and fluffy. A very noisy prop forward.
Harley- Cute and gorgeous (just like our no.9) Well, I couldn't call her Chad, could I?
Update on Quins Mogs :-
Purdo - deffo leader amongst Mogs. The Capo.
Louie - turned out to be more like Louie Spence than LMS. Re-named Judas.
Harley - Cute but not as gorgeous as our no.9.
Oh well, at least I haven't got a Willy.

Where has anyone said you're not a real fan or you're a fair weather fan if you don't go to Sheffield?

Think it's pangs of guilt making your mind play tricks on you, Sticksy. :)

Good on anyone that is prepared to travel to Sheffield on a Friday..the supporters that travel to the away games are an incredible, loyal bunch that are to be commended and deserve better than has been served up over many years.

The only people who should be feeling guilty is the management and playing staff for taking their wages every week. No guilt here.

The expressions used and in inverted commas were my words to counteract what I think was implied............plus of course a heavy dollop of my frustration at what was yet another capitulation at the weekend.

For those that decide to go......yeah, have a great time......I just won`t be one of them......the penny has finally dropped that I have wasted enough time and money on this bunch of losers.

yeah no idea where you've got this from, initially just wanted to see who else/how many were thinking of going, and then was defending myself when attacked for being naive about my support of the club for wanting to go...

lost count of the number of times ive said this myself. if youre able to walk away from the club now then my respect and congratulations to you for managing to escape a habit that for me has brought many more bad times than good, not to mention resulted in countless wasted Saturday/Sunday afternoons

Re: Cup tie V Sheffield : Tue May 28, 2013 3:04 pm
My concern over this game, apart from the lack of form which we all have had our say on.

Is Sheffield will have a full week to get ready for this game as I saw they play on the Friday the week before this game. But we have to travel down to Catalans play on the Saturday night (unless sky muck us about again). Hopefully the team behaves and don't get in to any little rows (we all remember what happened a couple of years ago) so that we end up losing a player (or two) to the discipline committee.
Then have to travel up to Sheffield I expect on the Thursday so a short turn round if do. Or do you think because of this short turn round we will be silly enough to travel up on the Friday morning by train for this one. if do.

I'm going to live in cloud cuckoo land for a bit and hope that in the month leading up to this game we get some confidence back and that our play on the pitch improves too. :EH:

It's an evening game, no reason not to travel up on the day.

Booked a day off for this one, first game I have been looking forward to in a while but then that is probably more to do with me revisiting some of my favourite drinking establishments from Uni :D

Bless
The Eagles could have been playing in Cumbria on the Sunday, home 11 or 12, and then up for work on Monday, two evening training sessions and then play on the Friday evening.
It's an 8 o'clock kick off, how long do your full time professionals need?

Cheapish train fares still available and a new Ibis next to the Don Valley at £29. Sorted!
