I'm afraid to say I don't share any of the positive vibes being generated by the gradual drip-feed of information we are getting.
At least the Broncos-to-Harlequins Griffin Park-The Stoop move was engineered with a degree of co-ordination and before season's end. The overriding emotion I sense from reading that club statement and Rea's post-match comments is panic. We're making people redundant off the field and we have about seven players remaining in the squad. How can that possibly be spun as a positive?
Mackay's brief was to grow a fanbase and secure a long term home in London. He's done neither, yet he will surely be about to claim credit for the move to Barnet under the direction of this Kleanthous character - when quite obviously no other option was available, either through our own incompetence or the impatience of other parties. It stinks.
What genuine SL or NRL quality player would agree to join a club with this much uncertainty hanging over them? I'm not seeing any long term thinking at work here, merely a mixture of convenient fudge and panic. How will the rent and revenue arrangement work at the Hive? Will we get kicked out for 8 weeks in the middle of summer? Does it even meet SL licensing criteria?
It's a total joke, and to be honest as the weeks go by I am more and more ashamed to be a Broncos supporter. The celebrations accompanying avoiding the wooden spoon are the thin end of the wedge for a squad that should have been achieving so much more.
