A striking feature of last night was how many errors we made against how few they made. As well as Sharp's error for the first try, two more were gifted from dropped kicks (one indirectly from the scrum for the knock-on) and Tony missed a tackle for another. Though it's frustrating that stopping just one of these seemingly would have meant us winning in the end, in truth we were a distant second best for 90% of the game. Credit to the Cats for the pressure at the play-the-ball and for Bosc's relentless kicking, what a talented lad he is. Lord knows how many drop-outs he forced in the second-half.

Cheers PC Plum for the good seat

My pleasure - helps when 4 of my group of 5 couldn't make it due to bedtime and work commitments ! Don't get used to the expensive seats though.

Where do you start on a display like that. At 6-30 I was losing the will to live on the M25, but persevered and now I am not sure why. I think I passed Quins enthusiasm, aggression and support play somewhere around Rickmansworth.

I cannot think of one Catalans try that they 'worked', everything was on the back of Quins mistakes (and there were plently of those) and repeat sets of six. I was amazed we withstood some of the pressure for the time we did. Our performance was shocking, but as already mentioned, the French official was atrocious. He gave us two penalties very late in game which put a different slant on the penalty count, but overall he let them slow the play the ball a la Wigan, stroll off side continually, missed the most obvious indiscretions (two leading to Catalans tries) and what was worse, getting conned by the experienced set of Aussies.

On the player front, nobody stood out in an exceptional sense, Will Sharp had a shocker, Matt Gardner flapped his arms to every high ball as if he was waving to a passing plane, Luke Gayle at times threw some woeful passes, Luke Williamson (was he playing ?), Temeta and Heckenberg pedestrian at best - actually I am wrong Haggerty and LMS added a bit of grunt when they came on. As for Tony Clubb - he is not a centre, he is not a second row, gets by on the wing, how about a bash at prop ?

Another 'not a good day at the office', let's hope Monday is better and the HKR game a massive improvement.

That's the game in a nutshell. Despite the closeness of the final score that was the biggest single difference between the sides. They didn't give us anything cheaply. It's amazing we got as close as we did in the end.

Seemed to be much more success when we stopped passing it and just kicked it forward on the first. Could be a new tactic. Surprise the hell out of the welsh in the first half. May get wise to it eventualy though.

Absolutely agree with both your posts PoD. Scoreline a massively misleading reflection of the game. Thought Alibert had a poor game compared with his two excellent displays previously but we have no-one to blame but ourselves.

I struggle to fathom how the same team that was so efficient and sensible in beating Hull not two weeks ago can then be so poor and profligate in possession as they were last night. I can only assume the loss of Danny Orr had some effect. I thought Luke Dorn was largely ineffectual once again and we just made far too many simple errors. We'd win penalties, then on the first resulting tackle we'd try something silly and lose the ball. Utter madness.

In summary - Typical quins.

As with everyone else I think Hallibutt had a shocker as ref last night. I still cant understand why we get a French ref when playing the ONLY French team in the competition !!!

I didnt even notice Chad Randall was playing until about 30 minutes in.

And until 2 or 3 minutes before the end of the second half I didnt even see Will Sharp touch the ball. Maybe that was the tactic.. don't let him touch it.

Think we missed Ward, Wells and Orr last night... lets just hope they are fit for Monday otherwise we could be handing Celtic their first ever SL victory.

I think if we had scored with that last run, we really wouldnt have deserved it as we were second best at everything.. god knows how many drop outs we had following Bosc kicks

Like how they have only had English referees when playing English team for their entire stint in Super League?

I don't think he was that bad tbh, i've seen a lot worse.

Catalans are a very poor side with Bosc carrying them IMO. We were atrocious, completion rate pathetic and generally terrible. Nice to see Matt Gardner make a decent catch in the first half. I fear we've seen the last of Joe Mbu in a Quins shirt too.
