Great move if true.. let us all take the blinkers off and stop hating another code/sport because of history. In this day and age people will obviously still hold grudges and have reservations, thats understandable, however Quins RU have gone from 1st division to play-off positions in 1/2 years under Mark Evans. Admittedly the team is run by a different and very well disciplined respected man - Dean Richards...who is a mirror image of a certain Brian Mc.
I think this has the potential to rocket us forward, with "one club" running two codes...they are not competing with eachother, there can be "one structure" in place so both teams can work to meet targets, train together, gain advice/experience from eachother... Oh and its clearly better than us worrying about Ian L leaving and us being broke.
I guess I'm one of those rare breeds of rugby fan, I can enjoy and understand the strengths and weaknesses in both codes. I'm sure we'll get the very anti on both sides - those on this board and RL in general who can't stand the thought of us having a nice stadium, future stability and a more than strong financial base to keep us in Superleague past the 3 year licence renewal period. With also those Quins RU fans that I must admit can be very blinkered and closed to the thought of a league outfit even being allowed to warm up on the Stoop pitch!
Lets rid ourselves of this boring hatred for Union and I'd say the exact same to them....League should be given every chance and is an awesome sport itself.
Anyway, enough rambling....I hope this comes to fruition and Quins Rugby can be a great success in both codes/tournaments.
OPEN YOUR EYES AND LIFE CAN BE FUN!!
