Why 13 games if not this year

Hughes has ploughed an estimated £13,000,000 into the club t cover debts since 2008. I say "estimated" because I do not have the 2013 figure to hand, but the 5 years 08/12 come to £10,250,000and were apparently paying to the full cap in 2013together with the gazillion pound rent at the Stoop  .

He has gone on record more than once saying that he could not and would not sustain that level of investment and the move to the Hive has unloaded about £1,000,000 of the running costs of the club to either the Hive/Barnet FC for an undisclosed fee or by jettisoning all costs associated with the community and local development of the game, whilst also giving up about £500,000 in income.....so in essence, London Broncos have saved about £500,000 in costs.

Some on here would have you believe that the LANDLORD at Underhill and the Hive would love to hang on to the Broncos past this year....and they are right, he would. The problem is, that if fans don't turn up in large enough numbers, then he will have to make further cuts in the costs of running the club and the only place left to do that is the playing roster.....I refer you to the outstanding start to the season made at Widnes for a pointer as to how that would pan out.
So, WHEN Hughes walks, we will need to pay out own way.

If we are in SL, then £4,000,000 is the figure needed......£2,150,000 after Sky money...so about £165,000 per game. Match day revenue in 2008 with a 3,909 average was £387,000 or let's be nice and say £30,000 a game.....and Hughes still had to find £1,800,000 to cover our losses that year.

If we are in the Championship, then those costs significantly come down to nearer £2,000,000 a year, but with that, you will lose a MASSIVE figure in match day revenue and commercial and sponsorship opportunities....Wigan coming to town is not the same as Sheffield!

Either way, there needs to be a concerted effort to get fans not only through the door, but coming back week in week out, regardless of what division we are in. I suspect 600 gates in the Championship will not be to appetising to AK/The Hive.....so we may well find that a top 4 in that division beyond us. BTW, not sure what the rules will be in the 2nd tier on overseas players, but TR pulling aussie rabbits out of his hat will not be an option......and we've already made the executive decision to bin all the hard yards done in development since 2006 on the other side of the stream!

Going to see the Broncos play doesn't prevent you from seeing Stags in future if you decide you don't like what you see at the Hive.

Just going to the Hive to find out will be a worthwhile experience in itself. It is in the top 100 training complexes in the world and as far as I'm aware the only one in the top 100 that allows public access. It was the base for referees and officials during the London Olympics and is used by International teams as a training centre before they play England at Wembley. Yes the stadium is currently small but the improvements to what was already there are top quality and it has many more improvements in the pipeline. It will probably be one of the newest stadium you've ever visited with the floodlights only being installed last july. The pitch has fantastic drainage so never gets muddy. The grass is genetically modified so it grows at double normal rate making the pitch is lush and green all year round. No rugby union is played on it to tear it up. It has 4 large bars, one of which has a deli and sells the best gourmet burgers you've ever tasted.

If the owner of the Hive encourages the same set-up as is used as for the football then all first team players not involved in the game will be in the Hive bar so you can meet and talk to them. After a game the players come into the Bar and sit amongst the fans to have a post match meal. If Broncos players are anything like ours then it's a fantastic opportunity to get to know them as more than just objects running round a pitch.

Finally, the new set-up appear genuinely interested in what fans have to say. They are not the same people who previously administered the club and appear to be doing more than just going through the motions, but they have had only 2 months to get things running and it doesnt sound like the way things were done previously has helped. If you're unsure as to why you should go you can ask them on twitter and based on how easy and open I've found them I believe they will show a genuine interest in what you have to say.

Great post. Thanks. Seems like a great place, especially with a potential Medical centre to come also; http://www.times-series.co.uk/news/1101 ... d/?ref=mry

Hopefully we can stay at this great place and set the roots up strongly here. Fingers crossed it all goes well with TK, and perhaps extra investment once investors see the massive potential of RL in London.

Funnily enough, you've managed to repeat a massive % of my posts since I started following the club into just 4 words. 8)

Alas, there's a series of owners and CEO's who I have repeatedly been advised on here "KNOW BETTER".........But now, there are No fans, so the chances are, there will be No Broncos because with the best will in the world (and I suspect AK is a pretty decent bloke) this is 10 years + too late to be able to pay dividends in the timescales available

Received a nice glossy postcard from Hemel Stags, details clearly picked up from the RLWC database. Nothing from the Broncos yet. I suppose that makes my decision for me?

Spose so. Though being there at the first ever RL game at The Hive just edges it out for me. Witnessing history, regardless of the result. Hoping to have a few beers with the Barnet fans in the bar before and after also to get to know our new "step brothers and sisters".

There'll be Barnet fans there?

I may well be going away for the w/e in which event I would be unable to attend anyhow.

Ah, nay worries, try and come to the Wire game on the Sunday 9th March, if you're free pal.

No guarantees that Barnet fans will turn up, ha, true, although I know half a dozen Barnet fans coming down. They have a special offer with their Barnet FC Membership cards so hopefully they get hooked and see that Rugby League fans are as friendly if not friendlier than the family club that is Barnet FC.

Can't wait.
