Quins RL vs Celtic Crusaders 06.06.09 : Sun May 10, 2009 6:21 pm
Has the potential to be the lowest Super League crowd of the season for QRL so the marketing boys & girls have a hard few weeks to get the crowd up to a respectable attendance. Any news of events yet?

As a ST holder I got a letter yesterday telling me about various promotions going on by the club , including 2 free tickets for friends of every season ticket holder in exchange for their contact details.

With their contact information they will then be sent an offer of discounted entry into either the Leeds game or the Celtic game, would probably prefer to bring friends to Celtic because **Touch Wood** that will be an easier game.

It's a good initiative and I don't want to sound negative, but Wakey will be our first home game for four weeks and we only spring this on people at a week's notice, and any applications for the free tickets have to be in by Thursday. It doesn't give people much time to canvas their mates, and some people who might have taken advantage will already have made other plans. Several of my martes who've never been before have already bought tickets. Alright, that means the club gets more revenue, but there might have been more chance of getting them back and getting them hooked with the further discount offer for the following two games. It would have been better if this offer had been made immediately after the Hull KR game, or been for the Celtic game on 6 June.

Anyway, it's something positive and let's hope it helps boost the crowds.

Exactly PoD. That's why I made the "QRL vs Wakefield" thread about three/four weeks ago.

I've managed to get two people picking up free tickets courtasy of my season ticket. It was a good idea that the same people have the offer to pick up reduced priced tickets for the Celtic Crusaders and Leeds game (and the club keeping their details on file).

We've all been making these suggestions for many months. It's nice that the club are finally doing something about it.

The problem is that the club are in a state of flux at the moment. Boss Hogg wanted to target the big games, the new guy believes that it's better to target the smaller games.......I agree with the second option by the way and always have done. With little or no budget in place and very little infastructure in the back office, ideas are the easy bit. The hard bit is how to implement these ideas.
That said, now that the MIGHTY LONDON IRISH 8) have ended the RU season, we will have access to various Union things such as data and assistance from Mr Evans team.
BF.....I can promise you many grey hairs and bitten fingernails when it comes to marketing at Quins RL, but what I will say, is that I feel better about the clubs marketing now than at any other stage of my following the club. Yes, they will still make mistakes and get timings wrong, but at least they are doing something now.
