I'd been thinking along similar lines to Jamie Peacock on this. However, I do think that a fall out of Super League (or Super League 1, if you like) would be the death knell for the Broncos.
Depends.
It would seem that we are having our "cloth cut" for leaner times and it may well be that the club are resigned to a lower division in future years.
Crowds aside, the club receives 1.5 million from SKY/RFL and the same again from Mr Hughes....come 2014 we may well lose 50% of this with no chance of replacing it, so to lose another 500k but drop down a tier, might be the only way the club can survive.
I'd rather lose 66% of the revenue and survive in a lower tier with the chance to build from there rather than trying to struggle along on half of what we get now.
I say Crowds aside, because we are at 1.5k base now...contributing maybe 500k a year.......I believe that the majority would follow us in Tier 2 so long as the club were seen to be doing things to structured business plan with open KPI's and the opportunity to "be involved". Starting life with 1,000 regular fans contributing up to 30% of the clubs turn over would certainly focus the mind of those tasked with running the club....
But hey ho, I may well be way off the mark and another investor is simply waiting in the wings...
