It is just over two years since the halfback partnership of Mikey Bishay and Dan Sarginson, who came through the academy together and at all age levels for England gave long-term supporters the real hope that London would have a long term partnership in the key playmaking positions.
This would be a massive first for the club, whose development of players had been nearly always in the forwards and wing positions prior to then.
After a promising debut away at Gateshead Thunder, Sarginson played fantastically away at Salford and showed some real glimpses of high potential in a very mediocre team coached by Rob Powell.
In the last eighteen months he has not really progressed in the way you would like - he is yet to develop the type of physique which can withstand the kind of battering you get weekly in Super League, he has looked very poor in defence and has made a number of appalling errors with his distribution.
But he is still a great prospect and it does not surprise me that Wigan would be interested, after all the risk is low and both they and Warrington are more than happy to have huge numbers of players on their books playing at other local clubs, and they could get this guy out on loan until he is ready.
That may come sooner rather than later as Wigan have become a feeder club to the NRL.
Sarginson turned down a four year deal with us last year and you wonder whether he will be yet another former player who is in the 'stiffs' of a club or goes down the leagues or whether he will be another Louie.
He is a super bloke and if I were him I would stay for another year or two, rather than be loaned out to the Championship.
Cheers
Mark
