London Broncos RIP : Tue Oct 08, 2013 1:51 am
The RFL have postponed the EG meeting scheduled for Wednesday so they can concentrate on clearing up the mess left by their inability to market the RLWC as well as their failure to attract a brass farting in corporate coin to the game.
http://www.therfl.co.uk/news/article/29061/rl-council-meeting-postponed

Given London Broncos were awaiting some decisions from this meeting in regards to a number of key areas that will immediately impact on out ability to start 2014 with a squad of any description, I see us as dead in the water.

What is most galling about the whole process, is that if IL is successful later down the track (December) in securing more club control over the Super League, then with people like him in charge, we would have had a real chance of making a go of it.....instead, all the work done in the last 18 seasons will go down the drain in an avalanche of negative publicity in the region.

The RFL should hang their heads in shame yet again.....they really have no loving idea what they are doing and whilst protecting their "individual" rights to feed at the trough, they have set the game back (commercially) 20 years +

Pre-season training starting in about 4 weeks time at most clubs. Not looking good for LB when you put it into that context.

Stupid headline! one of the points the come out of Super League meeting which took place in Warrington is 14 team Super League may be considered again. Woods plans are rejected by a majority of clubs, so his weak claim of concentrating on The World Cup seems a total joke.

Re: London Broncos RIP : Tue Oct 08, 2013 4:09 pm
There is only one turkey, and he heads up the RFL, along with his side kick, even up to last night they had a PR exercise plan to visit fans at one club to explain their Master Plan, one clearly that so many said from the start was a simple no started, but when Woods sent out the document for the EGM he was still stating his plan was certain to go through! how short sighted. The man's career seemed to have been like playing a poker game, was even the date for tomorrow set thinking no one would stand up against him so close to The World Cup.

But the Majority of Super League Clubs at yesterdays meeting of Super League Clubs have at last woke up and seems accepted that one man can't control the game like he does, especially one that has not really been gifted with great success, in fact why was he ever given the post after his tenure at Halifax?

Yes it does shorten the lead time we have as a club for next season, but as I said yesterday we were looking to watch South Sea players in the World Cup and have discussions with them.

Super League Clubs have to operate like the clubs in Football & Union Premierships and run the elite leagues, under the banner of The RFL, who should really administrate the general game of the rugby league.

Inaccurate reference, followed, once again, by the usual blah.

You know, jaybs. if I were on a personal crusade to turn every thread into the character assassination of one individual, I would take the trouble to ensure that I had his name right.

Put it this way, we were asking for a number of concessions from the RFL and these were all up for discussion at the EGM. The RFL have run for the hills, praying for the RLWC 2013 to deliver a result that makes their position stronger, but in reality, the cat has been let out of the bag, the can of worms opened and Pandora's box had had the lid blow off. Given we are the smallest club in the current comp, then I would suggest that bigger fish will be fried before us and we may well end up an "acceptable" casualty.

Either way, no news on 2014 for the London Broncos until at least November 30th......9 weeks before the start of the season. We have no squad and pre-season training starts at most clubs in 3 weeks time. We have no ground, our new investor wont move without communication with the sports governing body and have no other means on income other than the lessening goodwill of our benefactor.

So what? we have no squad and pre-season starts in 3 weeks. We can sign all the PI players we care to, but without ratification from the sports governing body and the other clubs, it will be pointless......

He is a loving idiot.....but he's not the first at the RFL and he wont be the last.

Personally, if I were Ian Lenagan, I'd be on the blower to SKY sports now preparing to pull the rug from under the entire lot of them on November 30th!

UK RL has been run as an amateur sport for too long......and the irony of that isn't lost on me and nor should it be anyone else. The RFL bigwigs who will be paraded on the pitch during the RLWC should be accompanied by the tune of the closing credits of the original Italian Job!

The good old approach with tackling organisational change, ignore fundemental issues core to the delivery long enough, and perhaps they will go away!!

Never fails.

Yes just the thread title, little dramatic, remember coming out of Knowlsey Road after Sunday matches when I was in my early teens, a guy outside in grey mac, with a sign "The End is Nigh" many years later the world is still here, you seem to be often glass empty, were I like be half full! both of us will never change, I accept that.

Did you see the charade on Saturday night after the Premiership Final? it was 12 minutes after the whistle before they got around to looking at starting the presentations, when you look around Old Trafford it was virtually empty, then Woods & Berwick were more like Laurel & Hardy presenting the medals and cup, what an image they send out for what some still see as the greatest sport in the world.

Good to see that BARLA, administrators of amateur rugby league have also rejected the Woods Plans, does he not get the message.

Re: London Broncos RIP : Wed Oct 09, 2013 2:19 pm
It has been 31 days since Hull Kingston Rovers v London Broncos and I'd say that things have got worse than they already were.

With more players leaving in that month period and nothing changing to the matters that were already outstanding, I cannot see many positives emerging from the tattered mess that is the London Broncos. I suppose the biggest positive for 2014 was if there is a club left but I cannot see the club being competitive whatsoever whilst the club remain homeless and almost player less.

Blaming the RFL is incredibly poor as well. Yes, they have managed the game poorly but it wasn't them who held a gun to the head of David Hughes and forced him to appoint clowns and mess the club up.
