Message from David Hughes.. : Sat Feb 22, 2014 10:00 pm
From our chairman in todays programme.

''I feel i must apologise to our faithful fans on behalf of the club for our late start in terms of assembling a squad and settling on a new home. Gus Mackay our ceo has come in for a lot of criticism and this is unfair because it was down to me. I was in a dilemma whether to carry on in Oct there wasn't going to be a club. We were at a crossroads.

Happily we decided to carry on but it took a long time to finalise the deal with the Hive. However it did mean that were behind the curve in assembling a squad. A number of the players come from Down under which means they have to apply for a visa to work here. Theres no quick way of processing this - Australian visas go to Manila. So when we sign players it could take up to six weeks for them to get a visa to travel here. That's not peculiar to our club but due to the lateness of our start it affected us more.

Well perhaps he shouldn't have told us 3 years ago he was in it for 3 years.

Maybe he should have been available at the last game at the Stoop to explain how he felt and what he was going to do instead of hiding from fans. Maybe when things were finalised he should have sent mail shots, maybe he should have thought about not everyone having computer access to know what was going on, maybe he should have sacked Gus. He did none of this hence a low crowd today and probably most were away fans. You reap what you sew and we wont all go along blindly because it is LONDON.

I can confirm most were not away fans. Maybe 15%.

Selco, answer our prayers!

David Hughes - The Gerald Ratner of Rugby League? Discuss. Or not as the case may be.

It was the most Salford have ever brought though.

Crowd would have been sub 1,000 without them.

They brought a good following, I agree. But not the majority by a long shot.

This means only around 1000 London fans to see an opener and include some of them as local newbies and others as barnet fans - this doesnt leave many broncos fans - if nothing else the message should get across there is something seriously wrong with Broncos. They have last most of the hard core fans but until people get their heads out of the sand this will only get worse. DH, GM AND RED HALL have to see the club is dying due to ineptitude all round. Nothing to excite you on the pitch and a badly run club is not going to get loyal fans back. And before people spout off they are not loyal fans - these are the very people who broke their backs for 20-30 years to get the club going both in time, money and true commitment.

Re: Message from David Hughes.. : Sat Feb 22, 2014 11:07 pm
we are part of the group of pensioners who can no longer go to games, transport is double the cost and we have lost concessions and have to pay twice as much as we are over 60 but under 65 years of age. This is something else the club should have sorted with Barnet but didnt. To go to a game now equates to £45 each instead of £25 and this is not acceptable. The government give a pension at 60 years old, they give heating and fuel allowance and free prescriptions because you are on less income. The club charge you more. Whilst this is a small thin g to younger people and wage earners it is a massive thing to pensioners and future pensioners. It is a big sum of money for lower paid people.
