Time to Stand Up and Start Work! : Fri Mar 14, 2014 6:46 pm

Its been difficult being a Broncos fan these last few years; and the last twelve months have probably been the worst. We've lost a lot of good supporters over these years, and the rump of us are now watching our team in a stadium that really is not what Super League should be about. We've had a good welcome from people at the Hive don't get me wrong, and I'm sure things will click in to place over the season as they start to "get" Rugby League. We can make a difference though. As Robbie Hunter-Paul (@RHunterPaul) wrote in his article "Testing Times" in this month's Rugby League World "The club belongs to its supporters and all you are doing as an owner is guiding the direction the club is currently moving in. Yes you may hire the coach and eat in the posh boxes but in reality it still belongs to the person stood in the terrace, because they were stood there before you took control and they'll be stood there after you have gone." We can play our part starting next week in transforming the Broncos back from being a "team" to being a "club". We owe it to our superb local juniors who have made it to Super League; we owe it to great Broncos players of the past like Rob Purdham, Steele Retchless, Peter Gill and Mark McLinden; we owe it to the young London players enjoying the game today; we owe it to ourselves and we owe it to the Broncos fans of the future. One evening of your life can start the ball rolling. Make the effort to get to the Old Kings Head, King’s Head Yard, 45-49 Borough High Street, London SE1 1NA on Thursday March 20th, at 7.30. Be a part of launching the SupporTers association; be as active as you can be; reach out to friends and your local community; persuade those lapsed Broncos season ticket holders that we are worth the effort. Let's make a difference. STEVE |
