Time to Stand Up and Start Work! : Fri Mar 14, 2014 6:46 pm
My latest post on the rllist blog http://rllist.wordpress.com/2014/03/14/time-to-stand-up-and-start-work/

Its been difficult being a Broncos fan these last few years; and the last twelve months have probably been the worst. We've lost a lot of good supporters over these years, and the rump of us are now watching our team in a stadium that really is not what Super League should be about.

We've had a good welcome from people at the Hive don't get me wrong, and I'm sure things will click in to place over the season as they start to "get" Rugby League.

We can make a difference though. As Robbie Hunter-Paul (@RHunterPaul) wrote in his article "Testing Times" in this month's Rugby League World

"The club belongs to its supporters and all you are doing as an owner is guiding the direction the club is currently moving in. Yes you may hire the coach and eat in the posh boxes but in reality it still belongs to the person stood in the terrace, because they were stood there before you took control and they'll be stood there after you have gone."

We can play our part starting next week in transforming the Broncos back from being a "team" to being a "club". We owe it to our superb local juniors who have made it to Super League; we owe it to great Broncos players of the past like Rob Purdham, Steele Retchless, Peter Gill and Mark McLinden; we owe it to the young London players enjoying the game today; we owe it to ourselves and we owe it to the Broncos fans of the future.

One evening of your life can start the ball rolling. Make the effort to get to the Old Kings Head, King’s Head Yard, 45-49 Borough High Street, London SE1 1NA on Thursday March 20th, at 7.30. Be a part of launching the SupporTers association; be as active as you can be; reach out to friends and your local community; persuade those lapsed Broncos season ticket holders that we are worth the effort.

Let's make a difference.

I'll be there in heart and soul Steve and am willing to help in any way I can from all the way down here. I suspect that from 2015 you will be a key to that the club will have to call on to assist with lots of stuff.

Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

I think solomona looks a quality strike player. Vea looked like he had something about him for the future as well. However this was arguably nearly our strongest side and it a long time since i saw such madness from a RL team. I was chatting to Gary Hetherington during the game and said we need to borrow BJB back from you. He said 'You need a lot more than that' Many a true word im afraid. Without signing quite a few quality players very quickly i think relegation is becoming inevitable by the minute and IMO i don't see DH contining knowing a promotion afterwards is not really a reality. If they keep their heads up they will improve with practice but the defensive weakness is maybe beyond the capabilities of some of these players at this stage of their careers

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

I'm a little surprised you didnt already have a supporters association, however perhaps that is a good thing, they are generally ' born ' out of adversity, all the best, wherever you end up
