One Ground, One Match : Sat Apr 26, 2014 9:10 pm
How are the memory banks then?

Nice new thread, a simple one choice per post, no cheating :DRUMMER: although obviously you can post more than once.
Ground/Match/Why.

Nominate one ground the Broncos have played at [inc Quins if you must :ROCKS: ] and one game at that ground which sticks in the memory banks as being a classic and the reason why.

My starter for 10, Griffin Park, March 28th 2002, v St Helens.

40 - 6

Why? Saints always snotted us big time in those days, and this was the first time I can remember we owned them in every department, also happened to be on Maundy Thursday evening so copious amounts of alcohol could be imbibed, and were :DRUNK:

I've had to check the date but....

Saturday 2nd June 2007. Harlequins 18-8 Wigan. Twickenham Stoop

Big for me as it was my very first match in the flesh, obviously it was a win! Top atmosphere from what I remember and also Gareth Hock played the role of Pantomime villain very well indeed.

Was hooked after that pretty much

The Stoop.

Beating Canberra in World Club Challenge after going to Oz and watching us get smashed over there.

My 30th birthday present.

Well it is 940am over here. How are you Homer? We can chat whilst everyone else is probably in bed. LOL

I remember over there that laurie Daley came over to myself in Canberra as I was near Rupe and that big bloke CLIFF, remember him? And Mr Daley politely said "It's a long way to come for that". I didn't repay the compliment in the bar at the Stoop as he hid in the players' section. He was one of those that atleast went over for a drink as opposed to the other Canberra players who went straight from the sheds to their hotel.

You do realise that the ego is watching this and graciously allowing us to talk while he observes from up on high til he deems it necessary to prove a point, despite loads of fans already leaving this site because of him?

The Stoop.

Also the Stoop, against Warrington '99, my boy's first birthday and Mr S Edwards signing his programme for me, and ofcourse a couple of weeks later, Wembley, agin the Loiners, bad result but what a day!

Also anyone remember the Saints game at the Valley '96, fantastic.

Homer and rooster booster have nailed two of mine.

The saints game is the one where I managed to escape from hospital for the night with a veinflow still in my arm - was on intravenous antibiotics for 10 days and it was looking like I'd miss my first game in 4 years. What a night!!! Went back to the ward well happy. :-)

As for the Canberra game...... I remember running on the pitch over joyed :-)

I was wondering who would be the first to mention He who must not be named. The Canberra game must be one of the top Broncos games ever, not so much for the events on the pitch as the excellent marketing strategy and consequent attendance figure.

Sept 1980 Craven Cottage

Fulham 24 Wigan 5

The match when London fell in love with RL - it has since fallen out of love but that is another topic!
