Pats 2000th Point! : Wed Mar 07, 2012 5:26 pm
He needs just 19 points now to achieve it and become only the third player in our entire history to get over 2,000 points. Baring in mind he got 16 last weekend v Catalan, it looks odds on he'll do it Sunday. If he does it, it'll have been achieved in 186 matches. The others Jim Sullivan and Andy Farrell reached 2,000 points in 303 and 262 appearances respectively.
Pat's 1000th point was actually achieved at Widnes back in 2009, perhaps a good omen, but I'd hope for a better result that we got in the 2009 Cup Semi!
His first 1000 points were achieved in 112 matches with the second thousand points looking like they'll be achieved in just 74 matches. That second thousand works out at an approx contribution of 13-14 points a match from him to our team in the past two and bit years.
Baring in mind that later in the year (fitness permitting) he looks set to over-take Colin Tyrer and Frano Botica for total goal kicks for Wigan and possibly take over from Kris Radlinski as our best ever Super League era try scorer - I can't keep emphasising enough what a phenomenal contribution he has made to this club! His sheer consistency is immense.
