Posted this on the Hull board, I was asked why Wigan have 5 stands around the pitch.
With the aim of attracting the first 20,000+ crowd for a Wigan versus Hull fixture in the Super League era, the first 5,000 fans to purchase a ticket will be able to do so at discounted rates, with juniors priced at just £4, concessions at £7 and adults for only £10.
These discounted tickets will be limited to 1,000 in each stand at the DW Stadium and initially will be available exclusively to 2012 Season Ticket Holders so they can take friends, family members, neighbours or work colleagues to the highly-anticipated game.
But then saw this:
There will also be a further 1,000 tickets reserved for group ticket packages.
When Maurice sold me to Leeds something changed, it just not the same, the passion inside me just wasn’t the same as running out at Central park for my hometown club. We need a change of culture here; we don’t want to be just happy with playing ok on Saturday at St Helens. Ill make sure that from now on things will change, that players will be under pressure and will train a lot harder than they have before. Shaun Wane 8/10/09

The Mirror 30/10/09 How the Premier League table would look if teams were awarded points for famous fans...
20th: Wigan The Latics don't have any fans, yet alone any famous ones.
Unfortunately, those with the smallest minds are usually those with the biggest mouth.
Whilst I do see what your saying you also must see that Hull FC employs a ticketing system that discriminates against away fans.
Whilst not wanting to go tick for tac here why offer hospitality or reduced rate tickets to a club that openly extorts away fans for the benefit of their home fans?
You could charge the Hull fans more to subsidise/allow a greater number of cheap Wigan tickets.

It's called being the bigger (and better) person. Why should Hull fans suffer for the "sins" of their owner? God help us under Mo if that was the case.

That would depend on the total income, though; higher prices could put off some away fans, so wouldn't necessarily bring in any more money. I'd rather see the North full at £10k each than half-full at £20 each, for the same total amount.
