we are living in cloud cuckoo land if we think top Aussies will come to UK to play super league. They have a cap of $4.4m aus which is about £2.8m compared to our own poor £1.6m (+100k max for club trained/long service) . That is an average of £116k per player in NRL to £68k in superleague. So any decent 5/8th or centre will be at an aussie club so that rules out the top 30 in each position who will be playing every week. We will only be able to attract those over the hill who no NRL club wants to keep or a young player who is only 3rd or 4th choice for that position at his current club. Unless the game as a whole in UK/europe gets a significant cash injection we will have to accept the fact that we will have to produce our own and will lose the best of them to the NRL (if perceived good enough) as the financial rewards are greaer or to Yawnion as the exposure if far better.
