Soumds like yet ANOTHER massive turnover of players

Hopefully it'll just be a tidy up job this off season which is probably needed. To lose Tomkins, Mossop, Richards, Tuson and Hansen last year was far from ideal and most people would like to have kept every one of them. This year on the other hand if the likes of Goulding, Dudson, Green and James move on then people won't be quite as vexed and will see it as a way of promoting lads from within and targeting a couple of signings from outside.

The big two for me who we need to keep when it comes to rumour are Taylor and Charnley (that seems to have gone quiet). Those two fall under the same bracket as the lads that left last off season.

Agree we have a bit of "dead wood" to clear from the squad with hopefully 3 or 4 better additions coming in. I'd be gutted about losing Goulding of 2012 but atm he looks unfit, completely out of sorts and I wouldn't be bothered if he left. Same with Dudson, showing glimpses of promise isn't enough at Wigan, he's not nearly consistent or hardworking enough IMO. I'd be gob smacked if James was offered another playing contract. Hopefully the situations with Green, Bowen and Taylor become clear sooner rather than later and then it's just hoping we have no nasty surprises with any of our key players.

On the face of it, it does look like another hefty turnover in players but, Taylor aside, the likely departures are either long-expected (Green/Bowen) or easily replaceable.

I can see the goulding rumours being true. Gelling is certainly our no1 centre form wise and with Sarginson improving and Thornley coming back something has to give

Goulding was offered contracts by the club and turned them down, the club certainly tried to retain him. Wane rates him very highly.

I certainly dont see Gelling as the number 1 centre either after half a dozen games there and certainly wouldnt pencil him in for that role next season. People can rave about the metres he makes, and that is great, but he makes them whatever position he plays and it certainly doesnt make him a good centre. I also wouldnt want to go into next season with just Gelling, Sarginson and Thornley as the centre options. We will need to sign a quality centre and hopefully Lenegan will splash the cash.

I don't think any of the four we have are top class but by having that many options it helps drive their form and to lose one would make that less certain. Out of the four Gouldings form has been the least impressive but I expect that to pick up if he loses his place this weekend (as I'd expect) and needs to fight to get it back.

If Goulding does go I agree we'd probably need another option there. I've always fancied having a look at Charnley there but if not then we'll have to look elsewhere. Dean Collis is a decent option and Kristian Inu would be a real coup but after those two I'm a bit stumped.

Phil Wilkinson did tweet a couple of weeks ago that Wane had told him that Goulding has a knee injury and thats why he was on the bench for those 2 games. He said also that Wane doesnt like centres on the bench but had no choice with all the injuries we had. He probably shouldnt have played last week either. Its a bit harsh to judge him when he shouldnt even have been playing.

Inu would be good but even though he is out of favour he is bound to attract other NRL clubs. I really would like us to attract a top quality centre though and there are stacks in the NRL who cant even get a game.

I can't see us replacing Goulding if he goes. It would leave us with three good centres (Gelling, Thornley and Sarginson) for two positions, plus Charnley and Burgess can both play centre if needed (and may be pushed there longer term if Manfredi forces his way in) and Gildart will be ready for game time in a couple of seasons or so.

I don't think we need to bring anyone in unless Taylor goes, we can replace any or all of Bowen, Goulding, Green, Dudson and James from within. Better to hold off unless we can bring in a cheap player with lots of improvement in him as we have with Flower and Clubb

Goulding is the best centre at the club at the moment. Sarge and Gelling are still way off from on an on form Daz Goulding. Charnley scored 40+ tries last season playing outside of him. Good signing for Salford if true. Sarge still has some work to do defensively and Gells is still raw, although improving.

Scott Taylor leaving would be a big loss. The best prop at the club IMO. Future England international and I would love him to stay and be the cornerstone of our pack for years to come. Hope the rumours aren't true!

Blake Green is absolute class. Very astute signing from Wane/Radlinski/Lenagan. I would sooner keep Green than Bowen and allow Hampshire to develop at fullback with him eventually moving to halfback when/should Green go.
