Unless there is a top quality centre available (can't think of any personally), then I think Thornley, Gelling and Sarginson will battle it out for the 2 centre spots.

With the props, it's looking like we're losing Taylor, with James probably moving to the coaching staff with the possibility that Dudson is off also. If we lose all 3 of them I really hope we rekindle our interest in Larne Patrick. Taylor/Dudson/James OUT Tautai/Patrick IN plus Greenwood returning from London and more game time for Sutton and Austin.

I was impressed with Sutton today, I think he's gonna be a decent player.

I totally agree. We desperately need some quality in the centre and at prop if those 2 go. There is no way we can go into next season with just Thornley, Gelling and Sarginson as the centres. Thornley is okay as one centre but we desperately need to recruit another. I really think we need some size and someone that can break the line in the pack too.

Gelling for me is our only strike runner and probably one of our best players this year when he has played. He has made the centre spot his own for me.

Sorry I dont see it. He just looks like a 2nd row playing at centre, sort of like a poor mans Joel Tomkins when he played there. He lacks all the skills of a centre and is poor in defence but because he takes up loads of drives and makes loads of yards people rave about him. He is a good, cheap utility player but we could do so much better next season.

Gelling was our main threat today but you could have played him at second row, prop or win and that would have been the case. He's excellent at making metres and dragging in defenders but as a centre he lacks that major skill you really need which is an ability to get your winger in to space.

It is even worse on the other side with Sarginson who again had a decent game today running the ball but he's probably worse then Gelling for getting service to his wingman. There was a massive opportunity at 12-6 when we went down the left at pace and created the opportunity for Sarginson to play a simple pass to Burgess to put him in the clear. He didn't even look for him and got easily tackled in possession.

They're both real athletes and good players but I'm far from convinced they're our answer at centre.

Ashton Sims appears to be available with Wire and Saints circling. Would live us to make a move for him also. Exactly the type of player we need.

Got told last night by someone I would consider a pretty decent source that Ryan Hampshire has signed a 5 year deal with Saints

Jimmy, if that was true there would be no way Hampshire would be getting a game at Wigan with Wane in charge.

He's under contract isn't he?

If he is let go along with Taylor and whoever else I despair. In truth though I don't see it.
