I see Carney as a wing version of Gareth Hock in his pomp. He's got brain fades in him, errors and ill discipline but my god he can't half come up with some incredible plays and he can win you games.

As I say with Gelling I think you can handle a player like that in a side that plays quite structured but can you have two?! Who knows but it'd be interesting finding out.

Me too, as I posted on the other thread. Not just because of his on-field indiscretions, but his off-field antics (that were responsible for him being forced out of Cas). We don't need that kind of potential disruption at the club.

You've got a team full of kids, unless Carney wants to sign for Wormwood Scrubs xiii you'll be fine ;-)

Sale Sharks have revived their interest in securing an audacious cross-code swoop for Wigan Warriors Rugby League star Josh Charnley.

The Sharks held preliminary talks with Charnley, an M.E.N. Sport columnist , earlier this year before deciding to abandon taking their interest further.

But now Sale have revived their pursuit, prompted in part by the news that current Sharks wingers Tom Brady and Phi McKenzie are both to leave the club at the end of the season.

Sale attack coach Paul Deacon knows all about Charnley, having worked with the player during his time coaching Wigan’s backs.

Well, at least his defence will be up to the required standard.

Sounds like there's a chance of this happening. As long as it's for next year that's fine. We can't afford to lose him this year and ideally I'd like us to keep him but I'd guess he's on a decent wedge and there's some good potential replacements knocking about.

I suppose it's always possible that Joe Burgess will have had enough of warming the bench at the Roosters and having to wait for injuries to Mitchell, Kenny-Dowall and Tupou just to get a game. That's a sure fire way to derail a promising career. From the England team to the Roosters reserves in a matter of months.

Tupou who plays left wing currently plays SoO for NSW and also played for Australia. He's only 24 and played every game last season so I wouldn't think that Joe will get too many more chances in his favourite spot. Mitchell is thought to be the new Greg Inglis, and from what I've seen that might not be a million miles away. Kenny-Dowall is a seasoned international, with a proven track record in the NRL. I think Joe copped a bit of flack from Trent Robinson about his defence (despite his two run-in try debut) after the Rabbitohs game so the chances of a quick return to the team are poor to nil.

I've got to think it isn't Joe's best decision to leave Wigan at this stage of his career when he needs to be playing regularly.

Charnley's agent using his RU knowledge to up his price I see.

Give us 6 months more of performances like Friday, after two years of underperformance, and I'm sure Lenegan will be willing to talk.

Burgess was one in my head along with Carney. If Burgess doesn't get many games between now and the end of the season he'd surely consider it. I suppose a lot will depend on how he settles as well.

Going off Friday Charnley would be a pretty big loss but going off the form of 2014 and 2015 he'd be no loss at all. I think it's the nagging belief that he may be on a big contract that makes me not really worry about any potential exit.
