As good as he was for us first time round I'm not sure he should come back. It's never the same second time round.

I really hope not, we have supported him through a tough injury period and I think after a slow start he was really come on this year. He looks to have fleshed out without and seems to be developing a bit of a bad boy attitude, or at least seems to be trying. In relation to Soward, no thanks. He is very much a fading general and his defence at times is laughable. I wouldn't be against Smith going but with TL coming in I'm comfortable we could cope without recruiting anyone and use the cash elsewhere to strengthen. If we were in the market for another half I'd hope we could secure better than Soward even if it is a short term fix. Blake Green has been available for example.

Agreed. We're reasonably well fixed anyway, with Powell available once MM returns, plus Shorrocks who was impressive on debut (though admittedly one game isn't enough for a proper assessment). Unless a real top-quality half became available, and could be fitted under the cap, which is fairly unlikely.

As I remarked upthread, I think Soward's defence is much better these days. Certainly better than Matty Smith's, for a start.

Sky just reported Saints are in for Smith. Usually pretty reliable with their stories, one of the first to report FPN to Wigan

Soward as a 6/7 is streets ahead in attack over Smith and Tommy. Tommy was a poor 7, I'm not even exaggerating for effect, yes his defence was solid but that was about it. His kicking game was one of the worst I've seen from a half and he was often null of ideas in attack. Would be poor signing as a 7.

As a 9 he was excellent, however why would we sign him on a contract (which will probably be bigger than Powell's) when we already had a very goos back up at 9 and and cover 7.

Smith is a decent 7. No more.

They also said he was saints bound prior and also that Tommy was going saints,wouldn't suprise me if they get their info from forums like this one.
