Do you expect IL to make up that shortfall?

None I’d have thought. I support both and Latics are struggling to get crowds as well. We couldn’t even sell out the place against Man City at £15 a ticket.

The main factor me is that there is a general bad feeling over the game at the minute. If the leagues best players go to the NRL or Union consistently then people automatically think they’re watching a second rate product.

They are watching a second rate product.

You make a good point, though to be fair the corresponding fixtures last year were played later and not as affected by the weather as we have been so far.

Superleague will be 2nd rate to NRL and union purely due to potential earnings. It’s a no brainier for a player really. If I could double my salary for doing the same job and have the added bonus of the climate and lifestyle I’d be off like a shot! It’s a fact of life now, that Wigan is not and will not be the pinnacle of the sport as it once was. The salary cap was brought in to end Wigan’s dominance and it has done exactly that.
We need to tie Sam down and do it quickly. He’s as good a player as any we could realistically attract to the club and to see him line up against us would be a travesty.

Sounds like Sam will be going.

Very frustrating, as in his first 2 years were a right off due to injury and this year he finally looks to be earning a marquee player salary.

I very much hope we have Hardaker sorted, don’t think Morgan has the passing game to be our Full back ( 3rd half back chiming into the line).

Presumably nobody watches (say) the Eredivisie in Holland because the English Premiership or La Liga is a 'better product'?

As for the 'crap rugby' argument, surely it can't be denied that the standard of rugby we have seen so far this season has been a big improvement overall since last year.

Not sure how the figures elsewhere bear this up, but increasingly I wonder if this is more of a structural thing.

For me, I feel increasingly like results at this time of year aren't all that important (provided we're still picking up points here and there) and coupled with the number of Thursday night games takes some of the feeling away from your average league game, and personally this has played a bigger part of how often I turn up than the style of play.

Correct
Excuses, that's all they are

Not everything is A1 with the game, far from it, but if the people who spend so much time slagging it off (or closer to home spend as much time looking for trivial ways to slag the management, club & players off) spent half of that time actually doing something positive and/or attending the game would be in a much better place.

Keep telling everyone something is rubbish & they'll believe it's rubbish.
And before the usual's come on I know all the counter arguments that your going to come back with.

End of the day Wigan Lose and there's 10 x times more traffic on sites like this than if they win.
We win and you hardly get anything unless a coach makes 1 sentence out of 3 x interviews of Hundreds of sentences badly or something they don't grieve with and people jump all over it like it's the end of the world.

Seen posts in the last 24hrs were some people seem to know what others are thinking now!!!
Then when others make posts they don't like they rip them to pieces for lack of facts! Now that's UNBELIEVABLE!

you are making a generalisation or assumption here that the folk "slagging off" Wigan are the ones not going to games?! how do you know that? and whats to say even if you are right, that the aforementioned fans then did attend, would that automatically make the club and game better?! no. so don't talk dribble.

the game is not suffering from a lack of support from fans, fans have put up with enough (not just Wigan) and in some cases its a surprise the club and game still gets as much support as it already does. that is not down to the fans - that is 100% down to how the game is run both at board and club level. do fans have a right to be disgruntled by that? of bloody course they do!
