God bless him, a true great, gent and lover of the game. And on top of that a proper Aussie.

Wrong. Richie is impartial, erudite and not in love with himself. As far removed from a proper Aussie as you can get.
You've stolen my washing
From out my back garden
You've tarmacked my driveway
Even though I said no
You've nicked my lead flashing
And weighed it in at the scrappy
Oh St Helen's tatters
Come rob me again

Cricket commentary won't be the same without him.

Marvellous performance that

Maybe they could get Billy Birmingham (The 12th Man) to take over ...

There was a bit in the T20 the other week when the batsman had a strike rate of 222.22, the other commentaters were most disappointed Richie wasn't on air to read that bit out

A real master of his art, cricket around the world will be poorer for his absence.

Yes, your modern aussie like most of the ones that post on these forums are far removed from the older "proper aussies" of yesteryear.

I'll always remember when he was asked about what the best test match he called was. He said, Edgbaston in 1981. England won that one. As you said, impartial.
