It's Le Tour : Mon Jul 06, 2015 9:09 am
So it's that time of year again folks and this year promises to be the most keenly contested fight for the maillot jaune in years (providing all the big dogs make it through the first week in one piece).Who do you think is going to take it between Froome, Contador, Nibali or Quintana?
The green jersey battle promises to be more interesting this year too. Is it all for Sagan again or is he there to help Contador? Is Cav back to his best (not on yesterdays showing) or is it going to be Andre Greipel? Maybe even Bouhanni?
I wish I'd posted this sooner as we've already had a pretty good result for Froome and Contador yesterday but we jave the cobbles coming up soon which might thrw things back in Nibbles favour.
Personally I think with so many mountains this year and with a tired Contador the GC is going to be a straight up fight between Froome and Quinanta with the little Columbian coming out on top.
Green I was thinking Cav might do it. It depends if he can get into the groove as he has been looking good this year. He very rarely wins the first road stage at Le Tour and yesterday was a bad sprint for him. I had thought Sagan was there only to support Contador but after puncturing yesterday within the last 10km and getting back on to finish in 2nd I think it's pretty clear he is there for Green and to win stages.
Mountains wise.....who knows!! Majka is there to support Contador so I can see someone from the next raft of GC contenders taking it. Someone like Bardet, Peraud or Pinot taking it but with climbing going to decide GC this year it could quite easily be Quintana or Froome who wins this too.
Young rider - probably Pinot or Bardet.
Personally I'm looking forward to seeing the Yates brothers at Le Tour taking a road stage or two and hopefully a proper GC fight. I'm alsp hoping Cav can rediscover his best sprinting form.
