I though Max played his finest game ever on Sunday.

I’ll go further, one of the finest displays from a FB ever at BV imho.

His repertoire was complete, every facet of FB play was on display and perhaps a few new ones.

If Max can keep going as close to that as possible he could end up troubling the international selectors.

Well done Max.

I make no bones about it, I've always been a MJ fan, since he first came on the scene. His flair for linking up, reading attacking play, and providing pinpoint passes was there for all to see. But, we all know what has happened since then.
Max did need to work on his defence, but I think his complement is now complete.
He reminds me so much of Gary Cooper, from the 60's but has better passing skills - that is a very big compliment.
Wasn't Max in the Knights squad a couple of years back?
I think you're right if he continues as he is there can't be a better English FB in SL, so why not an international call?

Not a dig at Chester but in the context of the thread has to be said, the potential Max had was there for all to see, after Grix left he could have given him the FB shirt and developed him from there, ironing out the few rough edges and showing him the confidence he should have had in him instead of messing him about, hopefully Chester can see this now, and then he can go on and at least make the selectors take note and then hopefully cause them selection problems.

I get your point but you could argue that the tough ride Chester has given him has helped make the man. I don’t know Max but a lot of players at all clubs who come through the ranks often struggle to find maturity. Having seen little of the real world it’s understandable. Maybe the staff saw something in the lad they didn’t like? I don’t know just guessing.

In Chesters defence he’s been pretty similar in his treatment of both Crowther and Batchelor, both of whom have struggled to stay in the team. Only TJ is an automatic for obvious reasons.

Having it tough won’t do any of them any harm especially at a club with no room for prima donnas.

That said I agree, time now served, unleash to the MAX

At this moment in time I would suggest that Max should be "The 1st name on the team sheet". Literally!

Gary Cooper ,you are talking about the best fullback I have seen at Wakefield He was one of the main reason we won the championship ,Think he got the man of the match .Jowitt as some big shoes to fill there .But he is beginning to get there .Hope they stop messing him around at Wakefield give him the number one shirt before he goes .

Whilst I agree that Max should be our regular fullback as the more games he plays the more experienced and confident he will become. Judging him to have played the best game ever seen from a fullback at Belle Vue does an injustice to all the great player who have played in the number one shirt for Wakefield Trinity. He played well on Sunday against a poor Rovers side with less wins than us this season in a bottom of the league game. Let's not get carried away by putting Max in a Great Bitain shirt just yet, let the kid learn his trade first.

I’m sure he is but the game played now is so different to the one then it’s hard to compare. There is every chance that’s Cooper could have made it today but likewise every chance he wouldn’t.

What we do know is that Jowitt is now a fit for purpose 2020 fullback, so no she’s to fill imho.

Max has always had the potential and is hopefully now beginning to fulfill that potential.
To rate him at this moment in time alongside internationals such as Gerry Round, Gary Cooper and Les Sheard is a little extreme.
