Myself included I don't think we appreciate at times the risks our game involves. It will never be a 'safe' sport but we must continue to educate within the game as to why player safety must be the number one priority. It's a tough sport, it's meant to be and I wouldn't want that removed but wherever possible we need t to reduce the danger.
Whether it would have made any difference in this lads case I don't know enough facts to say, sometimes it's purely bad luck but all the same, to die at 33 as a direct result of a sport you played is brutal.
Its events like this which make you realise how dangerous this great game can be.i often think of the sad events of july 2017 and the young lad from stanly rangers sadly paased away following a knock while playing.i do believe and have seen that things have improved i know scolaship lads have been having there concussion tests recently in preparation for season ahead somthing which even at first team level didnt happen 20 years or so ago.
