Ken Davy looking to buy The Shay and relocate Huddersfield to Halifax from 2026, until they have a new ground built.

Buying and upgrading The Shay facilities/pitch would instantly give Hudds extra IMG points, through ground ownership; other non-matchday income from 2 sitting tenants (FCHT and Halifax RL); and a smaller capacity would improve their crowd utilisation score.

Otherwise at risk of losing the SL status (along with Salford) if other Championship clubs improve.

Has Ken Davy really got that amount of money to dispose of, he’ll never get it back. Can’t imagine his children being in favour of it.

Doubt it would cost that much. I think the Council own it and want to offload it quite cheaply. Probably grants and funding available for ground improvements too.

Might be a matter of needs must. Think Huddersfield are going in one direction with regards IMG points and expect a threat from York, Bradford and Toulouse in the next year or so. Would secure their SL future if it gave them an extra IMG point or two.

Not just buying Halifax ground but building a new stadium
