Surely Salford should be automatically relegated at the end of the season regardless, clubs shouldn't get away with this under the IMG banner, surely debt and borrowing money to survive should lose you more point's than a pixelated screen and floodlights. Give the next 2 clubs in line a definite chance to come up next season.

Completely agree, said in an earlier post that as they appear to have ignored the request to cut £700K from their budget and should face a serious punishment. They should be told they 7 days to take the required action or they will face automatic relegation following the 2025 season regardless of where they finish. This then gives clarity to all clubs that failure to manage finances and stick to the rules accordingly comes with serious consequences, it then also gives Championship clubs that want to join SL some time to plan for SL 2026 and the club that is successful in achieving promotion can then put their plan in action.

SL can't be in the position of having any club flouting the rules and possibly going from one financial issue to another throughout the season.

Even if Salford are forced to sell player i doubt any cap and quota dispensation would be unlimited, probably limited to 1 player per club, plus talk of player swaps is fine but who would want to relocate from hull to Manchester to sign for a club in financial difficulties?

I'd like to think if we signed him (which I don't think we will), he would play 6 and Charles and Kemp would be looking to replace Seizer.

We definitely need to keep an eye on the Salford situation, it's sad what's happening, but other clubs won't hand around.

McDonald and Myler were team mates at Leeds in 2023. I hope they got on!

What you got to remember is it's not like Football manager. You can't just go and get who you want. Am sure there's lots of things we are not aware of which needs to be in place.

Maybe. A couple of other possibilities…

1. Thirkill sees potential in Myler (as Chris suggested) and although this is a high profile position, it is relatively low stakes from a financial perspective. Tough gig to lead any organisation when so much of your authority is derived from somebody else though.

2. Put in an experienced COO under Myler, perhaps someone approaching the end of their career who isn’t too fussed about burnishing their credentials for another position if the wage is right. They can interpret, anticipate and implement Myler’s vision (like a rugby league Reginald Jeeves), fall on any grenades (like a Simon Grix of business administration but with more intent) and make sure Myler is the one in the limelight when things go well (like Peter Taylor did for Brian Clough).
