Really good journey but a bit tiring, difficult to get a decent nights sleep on the train.
Allow plenty of time in getting across Paris for the connection, its a longer trip a cross Paris than you imagine, especially if you don't speak French.
I would recommend an over night stay in Paris.
Check out the "man in seat 61" website. It's got excellent advice on train travel all over the world, along with links to resources for booking tickets, checking timetables, getting the best deal, sleeper options, etc. The guy who writes the site does a lot of train travel all over the place himself, so quite often you get the views of someone who's actually done the trip you're thinking about.
No connection to the website, but I can't recommend it highly enough.
