Player of the Year is... : Mon Sep 23, 2024 5:30 pm
Jordan Lane. I guess the club aren't bothering with an awards night, probably a good idea.

Winners are

Player of the Year - Jordan Lane

Players’ Player of the Year - Herman Ese’ese

Supporters Player’ of the Year, with FC Voices - Herman Ese’ese

Hull FC Vice Presidents Young Player of the Year - Logan Moy

Try of the Year - Denive Balmforth (vs Warrington Wolves, Round 15)

Academy Player of the Year - Will Kirby

Academy Players’ Player of the Year - Callum Kemp

Johnny Whiteley MBE Community Player of the Year - Jordan Lane

Jordan Lane?? Just when you thought the comedy had stopped for the year, he's ran about a bit more than the last few years but thats about it, if we released him he'd be in the Championship

Fair play to him. He’s rolled his sleeves up and tried to lead by example as a now senior player. Fans crucify players for getting injured (like they do it on purpose) but he’s stayed fit and had a go all season. I don’t like these cliche’s but maybe if everyone put the effort in defence he has we might not be in quite the mess we are.

Absolute saddo’s will moan that it should have been Herman but I don’t think someone like Herman will care, if people at the club think Jordan deserves recognition just let him have it.

I was hoping that they’d just avoid the first team awards this year though TBH, the over the top reaction to this on social media will make us all look like toxic idiots, it will be embarrassing.

My votes were for 1) Lane 2) Esse 3) Martin

Lane has given 100% in every game and been a stand out, well deserved

He offers absolutely nothing in attack, this club used to field the likes of Willie and Sika Manu, Kearney, Minichello in the 2nd row and now we just have to settle for 'tries hard' like its school sports day.

And yes id rather they symbolically didnt even award it this year

The days of those players are long gone. TBF Lane did used to be a threat running good lines in a semi decent side he was a try threat. He got a load of stick for not doing the graft (warranted at the time) and has really put the effort in this year. Hopefully in a better attacking structure he might offer more again with the ball.

I don’t know who decides the POTY award but the decision has been made, they obviously think he deserves the recognition, why not just respect it. There’s not exactly loads of stand outs. Put a gun to my head I’d have said 1)Herman 2)Martin and 3) Lane so don’t think it’s really a controversial decision at all. Those 3 are the ones that have done the minutes and topped most of the stats, it’s been one of those seasons.

Put me in that category. An "absolute saddo" who believes that Herman was our best player this season and by a country mile.

I'm guessing that it was the coach who choose Lane as his player of the season. Well nothing more needs to be said on that.

After the season we've had these awards are pretty meaningless but if you are going to have them at least take them seriously.

Nope, I’d agree that Herman was our best player by a long way. I do think though that anyone who thinks A) Herman will care that he’s not won it and it’s some kind of injustice and B) Feels the need to comment on said injustice on the clubs social media posts absolutely needs to get a life.

Like you say the coaching staff likely pick the award. They think Lane deserves it. I don’t agree but don’t really care. If Lane really is as terrible as some on here and the Facebook warriors would have us believe then one of the worlds most experienced coaches simply won’t pick him will he? I’m not even a fan of his, but we’ve had an absolutely woeful season with no organisation on the field and offered absolutely no creativity in attack. Hardly a surprise that the top tackler and player who put in the most minutes has won an award.

It's immaterial but Grix has picked Lane as the player of the season ahead of Herman. It started as a farce and ended in a comedy.

More importantly how's mad monday going.
