Due to a shortage of available players, the GB legends team who were to feature in the James Haley Testimonial Curtain Raiser have pulled out of the fixture.
The ‘two-handed touch’ curtain raiser will still go ahead at 6.30pm , but will instead feature two teams of Fax legends and some of James invited teammates from his amateur & junior days.
The game offers some intriguing possibilities, with Ben Black making his last appearance in a Halifax shirt , possibly against new coach Karl Harrison and former coaches Anthony Farrell and Matt Calland could go head to head!
Hall of Fame member Mick Scott is set to pull on his boots once more, alongside John Fieldhouse, Marty Moana, Des Clarke, Jamie Bloem and Paul Davidson.
Several of last year’s squad, including Jon Goddard, Neil Cherryholme, and Frank Watene could feature in both matches, once again playing alongside the resigned Sean Penkywicz, Makali Aizue and Rob Worrincy in the main match versus Burleigh Bears which kicks off at 8pm.
Former crowd favourites from James’ time at the Club including Dave Wrench, Mark Roberts, Scott Law, Simeon Hoyle, Oliver Marns and Wayne Corcoran are set to be included in the 25 man squad.
Admission is £10 for adults, £5 concessions and £1 juniors.
