Not a good night : Fri Feb 12, 2016 11:52 pm
A very unenjoyable evening, no place nearby to get a pre match beer, a farce getting in then they had the cheek to charge £4 for a pint - no way am I paying that for a crap pint anyway.
Then you have a poor view from the 'standing' side and end you could not see the play very well at all especially with those training ground floodlights, how do they get away with that? £18 to stand and £20 to sit in a showground temporary stand???
As for the game what I saw we matched them first half and should have had at least 2 tries but we bombed them and were trying to score off the 2nd and third tackles when it was never on and coughed up the ball without putting them under sustained pressure. It was a fast game and we looked as good as them forcing errors and we broke through more than they did.
But what went wrong second half?
Our right had side got bust too easily was it 4 tries on that wing and could have been more Rob made a mug of us again!
Unlucky with the bounce for one try the ball went like a banana about 20 feet weird but the other tries we just got outplayed.
We did finally get over the try line but it is worrying how they scored 20 points in 14 minutes, ouch.
Some players did not have their best game for us tonight when we needed them to sadly, Sam Smeaton got smashed and Scott Murrell faded second half, usual good effort from our pack and Gareth Moore looked sharp as did Will Sharp but we came up against a very good defence, they look good for a top 3 challenge on that effort.
Then as the game finished so late and the M1 had a junction closure and diversion no time for a post match pint on the way home so a crap night really, never mind onto Workington lets get this one out of our system.

Im not happy , it's OK saying bring on Worky, more than likely we will beat them with ease but unless we improve big time the likes of Leigh, Bradford, Sheff, Fev, London, and maybe Dews, will put us to the sword and we will become a mid table could have beens,Worky, Haven, Oldham, and Swinton will be beaten by us , but wake up we are not as good as some thought we were,a lot have been having a go at King Degsy, I wish we had him, I said this last week,my question is ,Have the other Clubs got us weighed up?A night to forget, I thought I was upset ,Crindon was blazing.

This point last season we'd beaten a cumbrian side and lost to a full time team and we all know have that season ended. There's a long way to go yet

Of course there's a long way to go, but it's Ben said by many others will the opposing Coachest have worked out RMS tactics from last season I believe they may have, looking at some of our signings maybe they are not as good as we first though, no doubt we will have that Fax expert Greg telling us not to panic,a Yorkshire Moby.

Nah come on we could have been 12 nil up and we matched a good fulltime team for 43 minutes having a 'try' notched off that was very debatable before they took it away from us straight after. This was a part time team playing a fulltime team on their own pitch on a Friday night, disappointing how we conceded 5 tries in one half but they will beat most teams on that joke of a ground come on.

maybe. I still feel we have more than enough at our disposal currently to do the job needed. Only time will tell and the more these lads play together, the better they will be. We still have Bennion and Grix to welcome back

Again you are using the part time full time argument, I said last year we should have gone full time this season, but most said no, we will meet other full time teams shortly,I think we could end up as also ran unless something is done ,look we are not as good as some thi k we are, it's OK saying Grix has to come , but is he fit?I'm not sure, anyway I'm off to bed I'm up early in the morning, bread still has to be delivered. Good night.

Re: Not a good night : Sat Feb 13, 2016 12:45 am
Got in, had a beer, and reflected on what went wrong. First half was a good effort both in attack and defence . Just bombed too many chances. When Sheffield had their purple patch they took theirs and to be fair I thought they upped the pace of their game in second half and we fell off ours. That right hand edge with Murrell/Smeaton and Saltonstall got ripped in the second half and needs some work on. Not convinced the best fullback in the club is currently playing there at the moment. RM has to decide for the team's sake who are going to be the two halves out of the the three quality ones we have.
Nothing that can't be fixed and we have probably played the current best and worst team in the space of two weeks.
Plenty more rugby to come in the season yet. See you at Worky.
